Looking to refresh my somewhat dated collection of crappy men's warehouse suits with something a bit more up to date and affordable.

The older suits are heavier and boxier, looking for something a little lighter and trim.

Any recommendations out there on good experiences?

No issue with online ordering either (put in measurements, get tailored suit in mail is fine) and because I am a knuckle dragging troglodyte a service that puts together matching shirt/tie/belt/etc wouldn't be unappreciated.

I know very little about suits but I did get an Armani one for 70% off this year at Nordstrom's during a sale. Guy there was a pro too at helping me get it fitted/picking stuff out and they do free alterations if you have one of their credit cards.

It might be a little cliche, but I got a semi-custom suit for my wedding in 2019 from Men's Wearhouse - fit great, and looks great (it had a a bit more modern cut too). Plus, it came with some bonuses: $50 gift card for spending a certain amount, and then I got a $100 off coupon I used to buy some dress shirts and probably the best pair of dress shoes I've ever purchased.

I have 2 other suits from them from around 2013 or so, and they've held up well for the random business trips or weddings I occasionally need a suit for.

Edit: I should day they are wool, so they aren't polyester garbage.

Men's Wearhouse / Jos A. Bank / Department Stores like Macy's if you want the crap Polyester that the majority of common folk wear. Though Men's Wearhouse CAN have some decent 100% wool ones.

Hit up a place like Saks or Nordstrom if you want to find a 100% wool quality piece. Or individual stores like Zegna if you really want to a specific one.

Regardless of what you do - General guidance that isn't said enough for most people that dare put on a suit
1) Get it tailored - 100% all around in whatever ways needed (sleeve length especially, but also chest size, etc).
2) Please for the love of god don't wear Brown Belt/Shoes with Black/Grey/Navy suits. This is only something stupid millennials / gen-z wear. You look like a clown with it.
3) Don't buy a black suit unless it's for a funeral
4) The shoes are just as important as the suit. Plop some money down for some good Allen Edmonds.
5) Watch for out of date styles, don't get shit like pleated pants or cuff'd at the bottom
6) Similar to #5 - look for the same on the jacket side like 3-button jackets.

All that said - how the suit fits is more important than how cheap it is. However, make sure to look out for the other items I mentioned.

IMO suits are out of fashion. We don't even have people showing up in suits for interviews anymore (engineering). In the past 12 years, I've gone to more funerals (three) than interviews (0), and only one of those times I wore a suit.
