Good phone to upgrade to from a Galaxy S8+?

My screen is all screwed up so I guess it's upgrade time. So I don't want to spend like $1,000 on a new phone, that is NUTS. More like $150. Or $300 or something. But $1,000 is too damned much. But I'd still like it to have features at least a little bit better than an S8+ so it truly feels at least a little bit of an upgrade. Something not too different than an S8+ either, like its got to be Android I guess. I don't want a huge learning curve to go through again lol.

Any suggestions for a phone for me?

Why S10 and not S10+ WelshBloke? Seeing S10+ on swappa for 300 and change.

What about

LG V50 ThinQ 5G


looks like pretty much mirror image of s10+ but you can get them for will under 200 on swappa.

Well shiat, seems LG is exiting the phone business, probably not good to get an lg phone.

I went from an S8 to an S21+. If Samsung didn't have an insane deal at the time, I might have looked at Pixel 4a?

I say might because 3 years of updates is shitty. I wouldn't recommend an S10+ because you're getting just 21 months of updates? If you wind up spending $300 every couple years to stay updated, then your rough annual cost isn't any cheaper by buying a 2 year old phone!

Rumor is that Google will offer 5 years of updates for its next Pixel flagships. Android is starting to settle around 4 years of updates for major flagships, so this is a very welcome development.

Currently running a Samsung Note 9 128GB.

If I were to upgrade(rather get a Note 20 if I had to upgrade next year),how long do I have updates-wise with the Note 9?

I wouldn't expect much. Samsung only started promising three years of major OS updates with the Note 10, and the Note 9 is almost three years old. I could see you getting Android 12, but that would probably be it for significant Note 9 updates.

I believe the Note 9 is stuck at Android 10, it won't get 11 or 12 other than through 3rd parties.

U.S. models are bootloader locked, so custom ROMs aren't even an option.

Note 9 has about a year of software support remaining; which will come in the form of quarterly security updates only.

I would say a second hand S10 or a Note 9/10

You can get these guys pretty cheap.
And if you need battery replacements, Ibreakyoufix does this for 95 dollars samsung authorized.
