Are there any good phone deals right now for t mobile or unlocked phones? I've got about $400 cash right now to spend on a phone and would prefer not to get it directly from t mobile and add to my monthly phone bill with a installment plan.

I looked at the Moto G and it looks nice but 1gb of ram and no LTE throws me off a bit

The nexus 5 seems like a legit choice but I can't find a otterbox defender case online and I have to have a beefy case, I work in a warehouse and I need the drop protection.

Any recommendations will be appreciated, I have no brand preference other then no windows phones. I wont do craigslist or Ebay due to people reporting the phone stolen 30 days later and me ending up with a paperweight wouldn't be good.
Thanks in advance guys

Is the moto x even worth considering when it's the same price as the nexus 5?

If you're really worried about breaking the device, you can get two Moto G's or four Lumia 521s for that amount.

If the size suits you, why not?

Arguably better camera. Arguably better real-world battery life. Arguably better form factor. Definitely better customization.

The G should really be no go unless it's your first real smartphone or something.

I believe the T-Mobile version is unlocked with an unlocked bootloader as well. You can even design it to look like the Dev edition if you want to.

Problem is that I'm on Verizon and quite like my grandfathered unlimited data.

Too bad basically no other high end phone on VZW has an unlocked bootloader anymore. I might have to give my data up, which is going to suck because I pull at least 10 gb a month minimum.

Swappa or dev edition S4

Don't give up data for anything.

There are enough of us MDK owners for builds of every major AOSP ROM. And there's a patch to adapt TW ROMs from the i9505, as well as some quite good TW ROMs native to the device (for MDK and safestrap folks).

As long as I can ROM's like Slim Bean or something on it, I'll be happy.
