Good PCI-e graphics card for about $150

What's a good PCI-Express graphics card that I can get for about $150 (more or less)? I'm looking to do some faster gaming like half life 2.

actually what quality card can I get for $150: poor, medium, above average, great?

Are you sure you can get a 6600GT for $150? A refurb one could be had for that much, but a new one is gonna cost a bit more, like ~$170+. I recommend the X700 Pro. Beats the 6600 vanilla and 6800 vanilla in most cases.

Hot Deals forum, there have even been 6600GT AGP cards for $150 after rebate, and PCI-E is generally cheaper for this card.

which brand is better ATI or Geforce? I've heard better things about ATI lasting longer and that it doesn't get outdated as fast.

for this generation, the geforce is more advanced and should last longer, in what test does a x700 pro beat a 6800?

lmao, much to learn t3h l337 n3wb, much to learn. The 6800 vanilla would cap the cream out of an X700pro.

Also, ariafrost, the release of the G70s won't really change the prices of other cards for a few months at least.

Some old expensive ATI cards (9700 Pro and 9800 Pro) had better longevity than nvidia's 5800 and 5900 competitors but that's one and two generations back and mainly because ATI toed the Microsoft DirectX 9 line better.

Go back a bit more and nvidia ruled with the geforce3 and geforce4 cards. I was using a geforce4 ti 4200 for a few weeks last month while I RMA'd my 6800 (manufacturing defect) and the geforce4 is still a good card today.

Check the Video tab at the top of the page. It varies by generation, and this generation the 6600GT rules the under-$200 market.

Really? I've seen some benchmarks of the 6800 NU losing to the X700 Pro in almost every test. It was THG's PCIe graphics cards review guide thingy. Well, then again, it is THG, and people say they BS their benches...
