Persoanlly i would stay away from the bare bones kit. The parts list on that one is fine except for the PSU. I wouldn't trust that off brand name unit to power the system with your video card in it. But if its worth the money for you to buy that system and a better PSU then go for it.

i have a 600 watt psu in my current pc , i could just use this one, 600 watts should be enough in my opinion. now i can save alot of money just sticking to barebone , change the psu and add the 8800 gtx which i already got and not using since i cant on this pc.

i was thinking about by the time xmas n stuff i should just stick with the i7 processors which would last for a very long time.

Unless you're worried about assembling it yourself, I would buy the parts separately.

If all you're playing is CS:S you're buying things you don't need, like a Q6600.

but thing is , in the future i need a computer that would last. i wont be playing css forever. so im thinking and i7 cpu or the core 2 quads. as for assembly, im able to assemble my own parts but i dont want to put up with it, just need a good pc and get going

go to a local computer store, or cyberpower pc, or something of the sort if you want someone to put one together for you then, eh?

otherwise, even a 500w quality psu would power whatever your trying to run as long as your not sticking in a gtx 280 or something...

barebones is your choice, I personally would never buy one, just buy my parts seperately. Barebones don't come assembled, they just come w/ all the parts.

even if you went i7, guarantee in 2 years time you'll want to upgrade to "keep up with the times"...the wont last too long in the world of technology.

you'll be shelving out close to $1,000 for the memory, processor, and mobo to run the i7 as well.

also the 630i mobo doesn't have pci-e 2.0 so you'd be losing quite a bit of performance from any pci-e 2.0 graphics card...like your 8800GTX from what I call the 8 series is pci-e 2.0, the 8800gt is what im recalling from, and if it's a GTX i'd believe it'd be 2.0 as well but it may not be...

and with the looks of the case, you may not ever be able to sit a GTX 260, or 9800GTX+ in there when you decide to upgrade that 8800...not a lot of space in the case :x

He's not losing performance from using a pci-e 1.0 slot. We just aren't at the point where a single graphics card saturates the bandwidth of the old standard.

Since you have a powerful graphics card you could easily build the rest of the system for $600 or so. As Survivor said, you'd spend much more than that just on the backbone of an i7 system. Save your cash and use it in two years if and when you actually need more power. Don't pay today's prices for power you won't need until much later.
