i'm upgrading an app i work on right with a new tool in it. right now the app is free with ads, and it only allows for 2 custom combos per character. if you want unlimited custom combos and no ads, you simply do an in-app purchase for $.99.

i'm adding in a new tool right now and i'm going back/forth whether or not i should hide part of the functionality behind this same "pro version" pay wall. this was the idea i was toying with, here are the screen shots of it.

don't mind the ad/button on the bottom of the free stuff - that is always there for the free version. i'm strictly asking about the content in that table there. basically the free version is only showing the first 4 results that come back from this tool, and it is showing you that there are a lot more, but you have to upgrade to see them. you can't tell from that picture, but there are more you can scroll and see too, which shows in the free version as well but hidden behind that text.

and in as you can see in the pay version, that is what would show up if they were using the pro version.

i'm just not sure if this is going to piss people off because they may feel it's yet another pay wall item, although in reality, i only have 1 feature hidden behind a pay wall right now, and i let them demo it by using 2 custom combos per character. so that is kind of what this idea was doing - letting them demo it and see how it works, but if they want the full functionality, they have to pay a buck.

so good idea or bad idea in your opinion?

I have read it twice and have no clue as to what the app does. That has to determine the poll response.

it's a tool for mortal kombat x. you pick your character, and then load up that page and you select an opponent, then your opponents move.

the data in the table then tells you what moves of yours can punish the move you select, if you block it. "punish" means that you can hit them before they can block, and the frames to hit is the amount of frames of animation you have (basically the time you have) to hit them with that move.

if you aren't into fighting games it might not make much sense. but this isn't the full app, this is just a new feature i added.

here is the link to the app in the store, feel free to DL it if you want to see it, it's free (and rate it 5 stars if you like too!).

4 is probably so limited that no one will be able to use the app enough to really tell whether it is worth buying.

yeah i was thinking about showing 5 max results for anything that has 10 or less results, then once they have 10+, start showing 1/2 of the results.

in essence it would basically be a demo of a new feature, and if they want to use it fully, they have to pony up 99 cents.
