i'm upgrading an app i work on right with a new tool in it. right now the app is free with ads, and it only allows for 2 custom combos per character. if you want unlimited custom combos and no ads, you simply do an in-app purchase for $.99.
i'm adding in a new tool right now and i'm going back/forth whether or not i should hide part of the functionality behind this same "pro version" pay wall. this was the idea i was toying with, here are the screen shots of it.
free:
pro:
don't mind the ad/button on the bottom of the free stuff - that is always there for the free version. i'm strictly asking about the content in that table there. basically the free version is only showing the first 4 results that come back from this tool, and it is showing you that there are a lot more, but you have to upgrade to see them. you can't tell from that picture, but there are more you can scroll and see too, which shows in the free version as well but hidden behind that text.
and in as you can see in the pay version, that is what would show up if they were using the pro version.
i'm just not sure if this is going to piss people off because they may feel it's yet another pay wall item, although in reality, i only have 1 feature hidden behind a pay wall right now, and i let them demo it by using 2 custom combos per character. so that is kind of what this idea was doing - letting them demo it and see how it works, but if they want the full functionality, they have to pay a buck.
so good idea or bad idea in your opinion?
