Good Old School Anime

I picked up the original Macross and liked it alot. I also picked up Mospeada and Southern Cross sets on eBay cheap (like $20 each). Any other suggestions?

How's Patlabor? I would get into Gundam, but there is just so much of it I don't think I want to invest the time.

Ghost in teh Shell is old
a few of the Gundam series go back into the 70s
Voltron is early 80s
Kenshin is old
record of teh lodoss war is really old

If you liked the original Macross, then you should definitely look into Patlabor. It's similar in comparison to character development, but is much more of a police drama with a pinch of comedy.

Both true. The original AD Police Files spin-off is now on DVD and is pretty good too (1 DVD, "The Phantom Woman" plus 2 more eps).

Gundam Wing is pretty good Gundam.

there used to be this cool anime on cartoon network, it was japanese

they had a plane, 5 person team i think, one of them was a goofy fat guy. i totally forgot the name

Outlaw Star is good and its mid 90s, so its about as old school as escaflowne, its much better in japanese with subs as all anime is

gundam the original series and zeta gundam.
i can't stand most of the gundam made in the last 10 years. gundam x is the exception. i can't believe the dvd box released this month cost ~$600. =/

Not sure what people consider "old" anime, but any of the Macross ones are good as well as most of the Gundam series. I actually don't care for the original Gundam too much, too campy, but the later ones are pretty good. I like Lodoss Wars, not sure if that is old school but it certainly is not new either.

Ranma 1/2 is pretty funny; just a fun anime not a serious drama one. City Hunter is pretty good, but again not sure if that is considered "old school."
