I'm not voting for someone that is for late term abortions up until the due date that is for damn sure.

Literally no one is for elective late term elective abortions. ALREADY less than 1% are performed in the last trimester and virtually all of those are medical necessity.

Virtually every state has banned third trimester abortions with exceptions for medical necessity.

We. Fcuking. Covered. This.

You've been propagandized into believing a strawman. And voting against your own actual beliefs.

If you believe in body autonomy in the first 2 trimesters, vote democrat.

If you believe women have NO right to body autonomy in the first 2 trimesters, vote republican

It seems you are voting AGAINST your beliefs.

This argument might as well be "I'm against unicorns butt fucking randomly chosen fans in attendance at the super bowl during half time". The occurrence % of the alleged violation would be very similar.

I am not a You People. Doctors should have the final word on what is required not a lawmaker. If this was written into law the issue would be solved.
It is impossible to write a law banning abortion except for medically unviable reasons while giving doctors final authority on what is viable or not. You either give power to the lawmakers to define what is unviable or you give it to the doctors, any attempted "middle" ground will inevitably create situations where doctors are afraid to perform abortions for the fear of their license taken away. If you want to give the final word to the doctor on what's viable and what is not, well, that is exactly what is happening now.

As has been told you multiple times in this thread, abortion in this country is already working the way you say you want it to work. Abortion is (well, was) legal everywhere until third trimester which is a scientifically established viability threshold. Third trimester abortions are illegal except for medical reasons in majority of the states. In the handful of states where third trimester abortions are legal the doctor is not obligated to provide abortion services, they can and do refuse third trimester abortions unless they believe it is medically necessary.

The system already works the way you say you want it to work. Or, well, it worked, until GOP broke it.

Find me 2 people that carry a fetus up to 36 weeks and decide to have an abortion just because.

Find me 2 doctors who would perform such an abortion under those circumstances.

That's out of almost 35M women of child bearing age and 22.6K OBGYNs

With those numbers I can safely say that isn't going to happen

So did pcgeek argue against himself, again?

doctors should have the final say, but he won’t vote for someone who would allow 3rd trimester procedures?

Apparently at least some conservatives believe this is a thing, I just heard about an argument at the dinner table between my daughter and son-in-law and his parents (that the parents started, mind you), and they were all "well, what if she's 39 weeks pregnant and decides to go to California to get an abortion?!?" thinking it would bolster their argument. The kids were flabbergasted that they think this is a real thing. They love their Fox News, of course, it's the only reputable news source.

That was fine. But we are currently in the present where that is no longer the case.

NOW each State must create the laws for their State. That is all I said then stated what my opinion was. Then everybody has to bring in their 2 cents and tell me how fucked up I am and it is my fault (and people like me) that they had to face hardships with abortions and it's none of my business.....

It was the Supreme Court that overturned Roe not the GOP.

States were already allowed to set their policies within the Federal guidelines.

Yes, it was the GOP who pushed this to the GOP joke of a SCOTUS. #dealwithit

First, it was the GOP that appointed the ideologues who overturned what is undeniably a 4th amendment right to body autonomy. So yes, it was the GOP.

So now you are backtracking and saying that a woman's 4th Amendment right to body autonomy should be decided by popular vote again?

Are we back to tyranny of the majority deciding inalienable rights?

It depends on a lot of factors. In general if you have a child that has an illness that is diagnosed by a doctor and they are informed that without treatment that the child may die. Then if they abstain or do nothing then the child dies at a minimum they should be charged with negligent homicide.
Right, but in this case it's the state that's legislating nontraditional medicine.

They would probably be very confused to find out that CA bans Abortions after fetal viability unless it is necessary to protect the health or life of the mother.
