Good news for the definition of marriage...

It is now official and defined what marriage means. The Encarta dictionary gives a single definition as:

"A legally recognized relationship… between two people who intend to live together as sexual and domestic partners."

No more dictionary thumpers telling us it's a union only between a man and a woman.

Actually depending on how we are going to define sex it might very well still only be a union between a man and a woman. ;)

I'm still trying to come to grips with the fact that marriage in Biblical times usually consisted of trading my best cow, pig, and sheep for another new wife to add to my harem.

Ahhh, the good old days. Well, then again, not so much the good old days if you still live in the middle east I guess.

Isn't funny that the people who supposedly "hate women" would trade their best cow, pig, and sheep for one?

How many liberals do you think would do that? ^_^

I think the other question to be asked is since Encarta is run by microsoft does that mean we should start considering same-sex marriage to be the "metroized" version of marriage?

My 1992 Barnes & Noble Concise Dictionary defined Marriage as "a religious ceremony". My older bigger one has one definition of "property contract involving transfer of money, goods and/or land."

We need to fight for your older bigger dictionary's definition of traditional marriage. Isn't that was the religious right has been clamoring for all this time?

That means some of your high profile conservatives are running Marriage 4.0

it's funny that you use a definition of "value of bartered object" to claim that group A does not "hate women."

You don't see the idiocy of your statement and you never will, of course; but let's just leave it at that.

Well marriage is a sacrament in churches and I'm sure hold similar stature in other religions.

Why does the definition need to specify being sexual partners?

I've got pretty sweet medical plan, from my employer. Maybe I'll enter a contractual arrangement with someone who needs those benefits, in exchange for some other non-sexual consideration.
