Today's fun (no it wasn't fun) this morning her heart stopped. They got the heart zapper immediately and it started up right away.

Medicare wasn't going to pay for any more time in the CICU because her heart has been decent. But then after her little incident, Medicare changed their mind. The docs want to keep her here because the monitoring and stuff is much better. So, she's awake now. Still in pain and not happy, but awake. Yup, she's in there. She's going to be okay. It'll be a while, but this is her. Hi Mom.

Wow, a lot of things here. Glad to hear she is with us.

But what caused her heart to stop?

Did shocking her bring her out of the coma like state?

Did Medicare just want to roll her out on the street?

It is truly amazing how our bodies can be so very fragile and yet so very resilient. I am glad your mom is awake and well for now. Here's to health and strength to you all for the foreseeable future!

1. Stress of Surgery
2. Yes
3. No, they wanted her moved to the Neuro ward - cheaper, but not much monitoring. That's what this hospital usually does with brain patients.

Glad to hear about the improvement in your mom's condition. Keep on proving some of these doctors wrong.

Five years ago, doctors insisted my grandmother hadn’t long to live. Yet we halved her abdominal aortic aneurism within a year, among a host of other vital improvements, through supplementation and diet.

While the doctors were amazed, there was no curiousity or interest in the actual remedy. Obviously till this day she continues the same diet and supplementation. 😉

Nice to hear. Being awake and alert is key to recovery. Breathing on your own and being able to eat/swallow food too.

Fantastic news, thanks, Kathi. Hope your mom's recovery progresses more rapidly now that surgery #3 finally solved her problem.

Here's hoping that in a few weeks she can walk in and slap her old doctor. lol

At this point I do feel comfortable assuming that no news is good news. Hopefully Kathi and sibs are enjoying some much needed Mom time and rest.

Glad to hear she is awake. Hope things continue to improve. Still sending many thoughts and prayers your way. Stay strong.

Hoping she is doing well. <3

No, not doing well. She didn't make it. Seizures.

At least she went peacefully in the middle of the night. My little brother was there (he's been with her every night since she's been in the hospital) and he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.

Thanks for all the good wishes.

Warning - because you guys notice this stuff - my other brother has been staying at her place, and using her computer. When he turns the thing on, it automatically comes up with her Forum login. So, if you see her logging in, it isn't her -

We'll be leaving for Ohio in a few days, funeral and burial are at her family farm.

Goodby, you folks are fascinating. No more updates.

Stay well, and stay close to your family. It matters.
