I was looking for an MP3 or media player that has an AM/FM radio tuner, but as expected it is hard to find.

I found one, I can't remember the name, but supposedly it's not very good.

If I can't find one with everything I need, I would even settle for a nice sleek, compact, radio with AM/FM. Any recommendations?

The Zune has FM radio only, but no AM. If you can live without AM radio, it is a good player.

I don't know of a single mp3 player that has an AM radio. Most have FM these days though. If you must have AM then I'm pretty sure you're SOL.

I like the Zune (2nd gen) alot and it comes with FM radio. I'm not sure why iPod has such a huge following when the Zune has better design and features (and even colours). The FM radio function on the Zune is relatively good. While communiting, I can hear the station clearly w/o much interuptions. The other MP3 player maker i know with FM radio is Creative Labs but never tried playing with one.

SanDisk's Sansa's have FM, well most of them do, certainly the current crop of clip, fuze, and view.

i got my daughter the zen + and the fm radio is solid. i played with it more than she did, used the radio a lot. sounded decent, easy to tune to stations. i use the fm radio on my omnia, its pretty good too. if im too far out of town i can switch over to mp3s so it comes in handy.

AM doesnt work well in portable applications because you need a good size antenna to recieve AM. I am only aware of one that does mp3/FM/AM and its the price of the 8gb iTouch. C Crane carries it if you are crazy, er, I mean interested.

Thanks for the suggestions. The Zen, Sansa, and Zune all look good and I may have to choose one of them if I settle for FM.

uli2000, thanks for reminding me. The C Crane was the one I was thinking of as the only one that I have seen with AM. Apparently it's not that good though.

I was just thinking, if I got the iTouch or some kind of equivalent, would I be able to set it up so that I could stream from an AM radio's website if I am in a wifi hotspot?

It depends on how they stream it.
