Good movies with bad actors

This may have been a thread before, but I don't remember it. Anyway I was talking with a buddy yesterday how there's some pretty bad actors out there that end up getting into some awesome movies.

Some of my favorites include Nicholas Cage in The Rock and/or Lord of War. I really enjoyed both those movies, and Cage still wasn't enough to ruin them for me. Maggie Gyllenhaal was pretty fucking terrible for The Dark Knight, and if she had a bigger role she could have totally fucked that one up for me.

What about you?
 
I agree with your picks. Nick Cage was alright in Leaving Las Vegas and 8MM, but that doesnt mean he's good in everything.

I would say most of the stuff with John Travolta after Pulp Fiction. He had his comeback but now its time to stop.
Sylvester Stallone in Oscar. He's by far the weakest link in that chain. Everyone else was a professional comedian and damn well cast.
 
^^ holding that guy that looked like Sean Penn over the cliff by the leg. Haven't seen that movie in ages.
 
Tom Cruise movies.

I've always said that a lot of his movies are good despite him being in it. He get's cast in a lot of movies I like, but I don't particularly like him.

Brad Pitt is close to that in my opinion also. He's been in some movies I really like but I don't think he's a very good actor.

Agreed with Cruise with the vast majority of his roles.

Very much disagree with Pitt. Seeing him in Snatch, Inglorious Bastards, Fight Club, and some other ones... I don't see a lot of other actors pulling off such different roles so well. I like him more often than not.

I agree. I also thought his acting was great in the Ocean's Eleven series and Benjamin Button.

And yea Cruise is the King of overacting.

I'm with gorcorps on this one, I think Brad Pitt is an excellent actor.
 
Any movie with Shia LeBouf or whatever his name is. Terrible freaking actor.. quit giving him parts.

For that matter add the chick from transformers too, terrible, terrible actors.
 
Sin City had a bunch of awesome actors...minus Jessica Alba. Every movie she has ever been in has been a failure besides Sin City.

So... you liked his movies though? This isn't just another 'shit on the actors you hate' thread, it's trying to find movies you still really enjoy despite having those actors you don't care for in it.

The topic is GOOD movies with bad actors. Point Break and the Day the Earth Stood Still were very bad movies.

The ultimate GOOD movie with a bad actor is the original Star Wars trilogy. Mark Hamill is terrible.
