Music is what you really need to be testing and positioning with.

No, no, just keep letting them name off random movies, it's amusing.

To be fair positioning speakers is rather difficult where inches make all the difference in the world.

OP - if you want to test your speakers, listen to 2 channel music. If you can't point to the speakers they're good. Next the center, same thing but with multichannel music. Next the surrounds, same thing. If you can point to a speaker with your eyes closed something isn't right.

Woah. Careful with that eD. That's a foundation destroyer.

Cloverfield had one of the most devistating LFE tracks I've heard. And that was just the DVD. I'm scared to know what the Blu-Ray version would do to a subwoofer. The Incredible Hulk also was a recent movie with a lit up LFE track.

It's a horrible movie, but by most accounts "The Haunting" has the most intense LFE track of just about any movie out. So that's worth at least a run through for demo purposes.

na, it's got nothing on the royal devices horn loaded sub :)

Holy moly! I hope those guys know what they're doing, because they've certainly invested a ton to get that facility built. I'd like to hear it.

Heya,

Just watch Saving Private Ryan. It has excellent surround sound, lots of discrete channel bullets whizzing, bombs, shouting, vehicles, etc. It's an audio treat.

Very best,

If you want to give your speakers a workout try this:

https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/spmclaughlin/web/Random/Mission-72.mp3

It's a little bit bass INTENSIVE.....

Careful now, set your volume fairly low at first and go from there.

I got this from one of Yoyo's thread.

As a mater of fact, I used this to demo a set of speakers I had for sale and it so impressed the buyer, he gave me the full price I was asking. LOL

Just play Tchakovstky's Overture 1812. You can blow your speakers without trying. I think the canon peaks are something like 60dB. Even if your average listening level is only 1 watt I'm pretty sure it's enough to blow most speakers.

I have been demoing Quantum of Solace intro chase scene. Really puts your speakers through their paces and has great dynamic changes, not to mention it really shows where my Polks are lacking, Highs :(

Another vote for the Cloverfield bluray, its pretty awesome.

I have always liked the intro of Star Wars Episode 3. The music, sound effects and visual effects all seem to come together in an awesome display - at least to me

I have really high hopes for Inception when it comes out
