Good monitors for gaming

Tim

Hello.

I'm not sure what to do here. I play mostly BF4, and more modern games.

Which is better, and why?
1080p @ 120-144hz or 1440p @ 60hz?
Links, as always, are appreciated.

This will be on an i7-4790k with a GTX-980

Thanks

Lightboost or gsync monitor.

I've got the Asus VG278HE and I love it.

The ASUS ROG Swift is the king of gaming monitors now if you can afford it. 1440p with both lightboost and gsync.

I'm not sure lightboost or gsync will do me any good at 1440p. A single GTX 980 isn't going to drive frame rates high enough for that.

You are asking the wrong question.
Do you want good colours or completely rubbish colours and high refresh rate?
As in, do you want IPS or TN based monitor?

I ended up buying a 28" Samsung 4K monitor. It's a TN panel with a 1ms GTG response time, and it's 4k at 60hz (not overclockable, I tried). I'm very please with how it looks, and I can scale games down to a lower resolution when needed with no problems. I immediately noticed a huge difference playing Battlefield 4 at 1440p on Ultra settings. Coming from a cheap 1080p 5ms 60hz monitor, my gameplay seems to have been elevated. The only thing that I didn't like was the monitor was insanely bright out of the box. Some adjustments fixed that.

This was just the upgrade I needed.

Thanks to those who responded.
