Good monitor... looking for some reccomendations

I had a monitor from NEC but the on switch broke

Its time for a new one anyway, so basically I'm looking for a decent monitor, at least 19 inch and quite a high resolution. I'm mainly doing programming, school work etc. No games, so I don't need some uber gaming monitor. Just something nice and bright, and easy on the eyes. A higher res. would be better. I'm looking to spend no more than £200 / $300 but if anything is slightly more expensive but worth the extra cash I can look into it.

What does high res mean to you? 19" monitors tend to not go very high.

OK, I got an iiyama. A 19", 700:1 contrast ration, 2ms response among others. I needed one quickly, and all I was considering an Acer, only to find that it has a gloss screen. I wanted matt.
