well I had an ipx spx network setup but I am having a lil problems with it so I want to go with a tcp/ip network instead. got any good links for it?

Any concerns with doing that with the att@home service?

Got two boxes to network through a linksys network in a box doohickey and the cable modem is the third item on that hub.

We can both get online but have probs coppying files back and forth and stuff and besides I just want to learn how to set up tcp ip network.

I am sure if I took the time I could get the ipx thingy going but ......

Try going Here

I would set it up to were both computers connect to your Linky hub, then that hub connected to your cable modem. Run TCP/IP for the net and make sure to UN-bind the printer/file shareing.
Also run Netbeui and BIND it to your printer/file shareing.

Go to the above address, they can explain it better, but that is the idea. Running netbeui will allow you to sahre files on your internal LAN and not expose your systems to the WAN on TCP/IP.

Hope this helps.
