Good jump drive?

I don't recommend the Lexar Jump Drives. I've had to RMA 2 of them in the last 6 months. I prefer the Micro Cruzer drives. I have a 256 and a 512. For me they are plenty fast and very durable and reliable. One of them makes for a very nice blue night light plugged into on of my systems.

Yeah, I LOVE the blue light. It goes with my computer color scheme perfectly when it's plugged into my top USB port. My Thermaltake Tsunami Silver case has blue LEDs up front and my silver Saitek Gamer's Keyboard has a blue backlight.

Cruzer Mini 512mb drive on sale at Radio Shack starting on 3/15 for $40 minus a $20 MIR = $20 AR !!

Best Flash Drive Ever Made.

I have one of these - caught it on sale for $55. It's blazingly fast, and has excellent features like the tough stainless steel/titanium armor, the retractable USB plug, etc. Hell, CNET ran over it with a car, and it still didn't break. There's a video at that link.

In my mind, there is no other flash drive - this is all you need.

I disagree. My dad has the Titanium, but I still prefer the Micro over the Titanium. First of all, I like the Micro's metal inside and thick, rubbery plastic clear casing; it actually feels a bit more durable, IMO. The Titanium is also a bit more prone to scratches than the Micro, the casing doesn't really scratch on the Micro. The Micro is much better to have on a keychain than the Titanium since it is much smaller, the Titanium is longer than most of my dad's keys. I also don't like the retracting USB, moving parts are more prone to breaking. Finally, I don't like how there's nothing from keeping dust, dirt, and liquid from entering the USB part while the it is retracted; they should've included a swinging door or something. Yes, caps are less convenient and can be lost, but the cap can be put on the rear of the Micro while it is being used and Sandisk provides 100% free replacement caps if you ask. Oh yeah, the Titanium is also more expensive, $55 for 512mb is a lot, you can probably find a 1GB Sandisk Mini or Micro on sale and/or with rebates for $60.
The only things I like about the Titanium is its looks, the coolness of Titanium, and all the utilities it comes with.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the Titanium did technically break when CNET ran over it, the casing broke/cracked, but the drive itself still worked.

Fair enough, but you are wrong.

Fair enough, although I like the "worn" look my Cruzer Titanium now has - like a good pair of broken in jeans, it gives it character.

Only a concern if you keep it on a keychain, which I don't, but others' mileage may vary.

As opposed to a USB plug just sitting out there that can just snap off? 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

How often do you take your flash drive swimming? I've had mine for several months now, no problems. And yes, caps can be lost. Replacements? Sure, but is it worth the hassle? Up to you.

Quality does typically cost more.

Broken = not working. Damaged, I believe, is the word you're looking for.

Insomniak, you have your opinion, I have mine. I'm just giving an argument so that others can decide which USB drive they want by looking at both sides.

Those are my opinions, I don't think you can call me wrong just because I don't think the way you do.

That's your taste, but I prefer electronics that look new and so do most people I know.

I only really mentioned the keychain thing because the OP wants to put his USB drive on his keychain.

I don't think I could snap the USB plug off if I tried.
"6 of one, half a dozen of the other. " <== Huh?

When I said liquids, I meant that the cap would protect the drive better from accidents like if you spilled your drink on the table where your USB drive was or something like that. The cap would keep spills and splashes out. Replacements are easy, just take <5 minutes to sign up for Sandisk tech support and ask for one, they'll send you it within a week free of charge.

I don't think one has a lot better quality than the other, I mean they're both made by the same company. You're mainly paying for more features on the Titanium.

Not really, broken can mean "To crack without separating into pieces" among other things. I got that quote from the dictionary.

lol, you replied point by point.

Relax bud. Differences of opinion are fine - that post was made almost wholly in jest because we have to argue in forums.

Anyway, thanks for playing 🙂

See you round.

P.S.

But you're still wrong.

to me I think both of you are terribly wrong. I rather not to comment on my own opinion. 🙂

Well, I'd like to hear it 😛

Ok you would like to hear it? I will say..I don't care much about jumpdrive as long as it works for me and make me happy to use it everyday.
