Thank goodness we have a president that's funding abstinence programs as it's the only sure fire way to prevent AIDS, sexual disease, unwanted pregnancy and the all the social ills that follow.

Q: The pursuit of purity has some very practical applications, doesn't it?

A: We must live above reproach! Some time ago I had the opportunity to sing at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association's headquarters. While there I was able to tell the staff how much I admire Mr. Graham's consistency, his love for Jesus and his integrity. I have heard, for example, that he won't ride in a car with a woman unless someone else is present. This impressed me so much that I decided to take a similar stand. One time, when a driver came to take me from my hotel to the concert hall, I sent him back to get a third person to ride with us.

And recently I went to a single guy's house to work on a song. But I didn't go alone. He and I both understood that we needed someone else to be there. Even in that instance, where I am a songwriter and I need to write with other people, I am protecting myself and living above reproach. It's not that I didn't trust this guy. I just wanted to live above reproach so that no one can look at my life and say, "Oh, she walked into a guy's house alone!"
"

C'mon! If you cant be alone with a person of the opposite sex because you are worried you'll give in and have sex or you're afraid that people will accuse you of having had sex with them than you have some personal issues IMO.

She wants to be a good role model and not give any impression of impropriety.

Hahaha... wow... maybe they need to ask their parents if they can play at their friend's house.

You have to recognize, however, that abstinence programs simply don't work with most kids and, if there isn't an element of safe sex taught as well, everyone loses. Abstinence should be presented to kids as an alternative, but it shouldn't be the ONLY thing taught, which is what Bush is pushing for. That's just rediculous to ask for.

Asking people to give up sex is like asking them to give up water. Works for a week, then they'll start using it behind your back. Those who are not sexually active are almost certainly pleasuring themselves, which is suppose to be sinful.

one hethenistic action at a time!

It has been proven that abstinence only sex education doesnt work, as states with those programs have higher rates of teenage pregnacies.

Kids are horny. Even ones in the bible belt.

The ONLY sure fire way to prevent teenage pregnacies, AIDS, STDs is... CASTRATION. It's simple, you cant do it so you wont get a disease or pregnant!

I think Religious groups need to start adopting this policy to thin out... errrmmm I mean to steer future generations of Christians in the right direction.

u forgot about the tongues smileyz, that will also solve the problem with swear words. next step is to rid ourselves of impure thoughts, we should lobotomize the brain!

unfortunately, telling kids not to have sex does absolutely nothing. so its a nice idea, but utterly unworkable. duh. give em free condoms, and then go ahead and give the abstinence lecture. yes its hypocrisy, but at least the ones that were going to have sex (shock! the same ones who slept through the abstinence lecture!) arent getting pregnant.

You are using logic and reason, so you must be new here. I know you mean well, but using such things while talking to Rip is fruitless.

What about all the gay teenagers who are taught "abstinence until marriage" in school, without it ever being acknowledged that gay people are unable to marry. I.e., for gay teenagers, "abstinence until marriage" = an entire life of celibacy, OR having gay sex without EVER having been provided by their schools (or parents, usually) with any realistic information about how they could reduce the chances of getting STDs. Given that the prevalence of HIV/ AIDS is already high in the gay community, this seems to me to be a particularly cruel way of treating gay kids. Not surprisingly, young gay males (teenagers, early 20s) have some of the highest rates of new HIV/ AIDS infections.

they are covered by the abstinence only policy, this is how we can lower their numbers, they'll have sex, catch aids, then die. and since hetero kids won't be having sex, wh ocares abotu the outbreak of aids that will happen i nthe gay community

It was because of reasoning like that that AIDS is such a problem that it is.
