I think wiki should just sell advertising if they absolutely needed money. With some strict rules on who could advertise. Even some very small ad on thier homepage would bring in a lot of money due to the sites traffic.

Wikipedia already has copycat sites, so if it went pay only, the copycat sites would take over.

Good luck getting a million subs.

Other than happening past it on a google search, I don't go there intentionally. I don't know anyone that uses it regularly.

Why not just print out the entire Wikipedia website, and sell copies of it door to door like they did in ye olde times? Sure to be a hot seller, so I would initially order like 1000 prints to get started, and you will need a semi-truck to haul them around too.

Ooooh I got a better idea....wikipedia on 50gb Blurays!

I can sell them on Ebay! :p

Althought it might take a team of monkeys working 24x7 for X amount of time to gather the data and index it on a disc. :|

Which is why you should just print out the entire website, alphabetize the articles, bind 'em, and then sell door-to-door.

It has been done before, people made a living off of selling encyclopedias door-to-door. You really can't go wrong with this, it is a 100% bullet proof infallible plan! :awe:

I think it is only fair that I receive a 25% commission for giving you this grand plan.

I hate my encyclopedias. I have Americana, and year books from the 60s to 2001. They're a useless waste of space, but I can't bring myself to throw out books. It's a 2000# albatross :^(
