Good HTPC Joystick/Gamepad?

I'm thinking about adding some sort of game emulation to my htpc to make it a little more fun and useful when our nephews come over. Is there a joystick that can work with most of the games out there? What's a good one to get... I haven't bought a joystick in years.

I bought a USB N64/Playstation 2 dongle. The way I see it, the n64 controller is a superset of almost all other controllers; you have the standard NES a/b buttons, you have the Left/Right buttons for SNES, and of course, you have the analog stick for N64 games. If you'd prefer a PS2 type controller, you can use that as well.

It's not as slick as an adaptoid, but they don't make those anymore. But the good news is they're less than $10. So you can run down to a used game store, pick up some N64 controllers and you're all set.

360 wireless controller. Going to cost you though ($50 for controller + $20 for dongle) but best controller for the job. I use it for MAME, MESS, etc. Works 100%.

logitech wireless rumblepad 2. i've used if for a couple years, and can say it might be one of the best products logitech will ever make.

QFT. I have been using the non-wireless version nearly every day for at least 5-6 years. Still works great. Next fav is the 360 wired or wireless. I prefer using the wired one as the rumble is a tad stronger.

True. The OP did not specify wireless, so he can get the 360 controller for $40 if he wants to go that route.

I'd definitely recommend the 360 controller as well, especially the wireless one. It's extremely comfortable and has plenty of buttons that you can map to different games.
