I bought a USB N64/Playstation 2 dongle. The way I see it, the n64 controller is a superset of almost all other controllers; you have the standard NES a/b buttons, you have the Left/Right buttons for SNES, and of course, you have the analog stick for N64 games. If you'd prefer a PS2 type controller, you can use that as well.
It's not as slick as an adaptoid, but they don't make those anymore. But the good news is they're less than $10. So you can run down to a used game store, pick up some N64 controllers and you're all set.
