good hs/f for bartons?

Looking to get something rather then stock, don't like the temps, any suggestions? Not ocing, just want cool and quiet.

gah shipping for fans is atrocious...anyway are vantec fans as good as panaflo's? Newegg doesn't seem to carry them anymore(panaflo's that is).

Check out the Silent Boost from Newegg; I've gotta couple and they cool like a beast and come with a nice Panaflow fan on top too.

thermalright SK7 wth panaflo L1A would be great. SLK800a and up even better (just avoid the SLK700 as doesnt take 80mm fan).

those vantec stealth fans are meant to be pretty decent, but panaflo is in another class.

zalman 7000alcu another reportedly great choice for good temps & low noise.

A speeze falconrock is pretty good for my barton. Comes with an 80mm fan/thermal paste on the hs and it's very quiet and keeps my stock barton 2500+ at 35C idle. Pretty easy to install in case with a flathead screwdriver since it's got that no slip clip. All for 11$.

edit: clean off the thermal paste from this hsf and just replace it with Artic Silver paste.

I'll tell you what's a pretty good deal right now. SVC has this insanely huge Thermalright SLK-947U heatsink for $20. MSRP = $57. I've heard some issues with mounting, IIRC, but this thing is a beast at a pretty reasonable price. Toss on the quietest 92mm fan you can find and it'll be both very quiet and very efficient!

hmm whats a neoplate? I have the nf7s 2.0, does this heatsink come with the neoplate? I see under what comes with the product "base plate" is that the neoplate?

Hey, I have that setup, NF7-S2 and slk947U. No! the neo backplate is a separate accessory which was out of stock everywhere when I got mine. I just skipped one of the standoffs because one of the arms of the supplied backplate interfered with it. If I had noticed before installing it would have been an easy and safe cut, but it seems fine without. If I ever change the thermal goop, might do it then. The other thing is that on the top there is a little tab that can get really close or touch the capacitors. I trimmed mine with a nice sharp bastard file, but you can use a dremel or whateva. Just dont beat up on the contact surface. Some people have said they have enuf space, some said they bent the caps over a bit (sketchy for me), some let it rub. I have a Thermaltake SilentCat on it, they were out of panaflo's at the time. Doesn't seem that silent but I have a funky case with a million holes in it, other case fans, etc.

Falconrock is still $14,shipped. Once you buy the Thermalright for $20 plus probably another $8 for shipping plus a fan and even more shipping.

furthermore,you need the neobackplate for revision 2.0 NF7-S, so add another $15. its really not worth it.
