Good hotels in Kansas City?

Due to bad timing on some issues my euro-honeymoon is postponed to 2010 (not a big deal as I'll have more spending money then). My fiance and I have decided a quick trip to KC would be nice for now, but I wonder...what's a nice hotel there?

I've never had the jet spa experience and that would be awesome. But if they don't got it, they don't got it I was hoping some people here had some suggestions or had any good experiences anywhere. It's possible we'll go cheap and just hope to find somewhere close to get in the shopping.

As of right now, I have no price limit. :D

Not sure on hotels as I always stay with friends, but Jack Stack BBQ rocks my socks.

Whatever you do, don't stay at the Westin Crown Center. I reserved a room months in advance only to check in, get my key, go to my room, and enter the room to find that someone else was currently staying in that room. Spent an hour in the lobby getting another room and waiting for security to let guests use the elevators since the Jacksonville Jaguars were staying there and were just released from a pre-game meeting.

I got put up in the Hilton when I was there for an interview. It was pretty nice. Not sure what else is there.

I was gonna recommend going someplace beautiful, like rocky mountain national park (Estes park right outside RMNP is a nice place to stay), but then I remember that my wife and I hardly left our hotel room on our honeymoon.

stayed 4 nights at the Hyatt Regency Gold Crown Center

Pretty nice place, but I'm not exactly a hotel connoisseur

My last hotel was a Motel 6

Anywhere on the Plaza

I wouldn't stay at chateau Avalon, as it is out by Legends, right off the interstate and near the race track. I enjoy the plaza/power and light district much more.

and as for BBQ go to Gates or Oklahoma Joes.

Agreed, if you plan on staying in the hotel room the entire time the Chateau Avalon would be okay, but you are limited to a small(er) area in the surrounding area that isn't too romantic. The plaza would be a better selection if you plan on doing anything outside of the hotel.

legends is 20-30 minutes from the plaza.

there is also excelsior springs, mo (way far out tho) if you plan to just enjoy the room, otherwise plaza is a better option for evening strolls etc ... have fun ...

My fiancee and I have been going every summer, but we'll probably miss this summer. We've done a Super 8 I think (near World's of Fun), but that isn't what you'd want. We've done a Four Points by Sheraton (near the airport), definately avoid that hotel. We've also done the Courtyard by Marriott (near the plaza). We throughly enjoyed that last hotel. The plaza is definately worth going (best place to just walk around shopping, eating, enjoying scenery, or museums).

The Chateau Avalon Hotel does look nice though.

Sooo, you got engaged at a themed hotel in, IOWA!!! Which I guess is ok, seeing as how it had a bowling alley and all. Now your going on a honeymoon, with a quick trip to Kansas city for mall shopping. Wow, romance just oozes from your pores. And here I always thought Niagara falls was kind of tacky. Pray tell, where was the wedding ceremony?

As of now, I'm confused.
Just kidding with you, congrats
