Good heatsink for fm1 + PC-Q11 ?

I've seen pictures of the retail 3850 heatsink and it looks cheesy.

What would you guys recommend for a replacement ?
The PC-Q11 case says the max height for the cpu heatsink is 80mm
The board i'm looking at has plenty of room around the socket (ASUS F1A75-I Deluxe or unreleased ga-a75n-usb3).

here are two heatsinks I was looking at:

Scythe SCSK-1100 100mm Shuriken Rev. B 3 Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
LOGISYS Computer BETA 400 ST AC4400BT 92mm Hydro Bearing

The Logisys one reminds me of the old slk-800 socket A heatsinks, My concern with that is it'll likely need a high speed fan.

Any thoughts ?
thanks

AM2/3 heatsinks are compatible with FM1. I would get something like a Hyper 212 on the low end or maybe a CAFA70.

cooler master GeminII S dimensions (from newegg):
124 x 118.4 x 62mm

I assume the 3rd number is the height including the 25mm thick fan ?

It does look like it'll cool better than the
Scythe SCSK-1100 100mm Shuriken

I am somewhat concerned about the mounting, but I guess a backplate isn't a game killer
and I can rotate it if it won't clear the ram heatsinks

EDIT:
GeminII S height with fan is 62 + 25MM
so i'd have to buy a thinner fan to make it fit
I might have enough airflow to just not use a fan on it

I just noticed that covering the pcie slot is also a concern
after carefully looking at pictures it appears the 100mm SCSK-1100 Shuriken will just fit
the 120mm "big Shuriken" models will not work

I think i'll just get that one

I would go with the Scythe Shuriken, only 64mm high and it seems to be a well performing yet quiet cooler

Ok I got everything mostly put together now

105 x 116 x 64 mm bummer
the 116 just happens to be over the pcie slot
covers it by maybe 5mm can't rotate the Shuriken

ohhh well, I guess i'll worry about that when/IF I ever install a pcie card

All AMD Heatsinks since Socket 754 (939, AM2, AM3) and onward are compatible with FM1 (which I am running). Personally, I am considering the coolermaster v10 or v8, but I have other options that are on the table. If you have case and space, a Corsair H100 would be the best option.

As I said earlier. All Heatsinks and waterblocks from the old Athlon 64 to the present AMD AM3+ are compatible with the mounts and backplate. AMD has done a fantastic job in regards to cooling options with FM1. The current stock heatsinks amd ships with LLANO are junk. AMD used to ship really nice heat-piped heatskink fans with their mid-priced (and up) socket 939 CPU's. Personally, I would go on ebay and find one for a $1 and consider yourself done; because those old HSF's were designed for a 110watt TDP Processor, were easy to install and really did a great job cooling (find an old review).

Today I just installed a Noctua NH-D14, With a 111watt TDP my 3850 is kept just a few degrees above ambient in a sub-tropical environment. It gets the job done and I don't have to crank the AC to keep the PC cool. But it sure was pricy. Depending on your budget, I would also consider Promlimatech Genesis (add your own fans), Coolermaster V8 or V6GT. All of those come very close to the noctua's performance and are competitive with some corsair watercooling models. If you overclock, the Coolermaster V10 is a worthy contender with its ability to silently cool over 240+ watts.

The old 939 Heatsink, from the glory days when AMD's stock was soaring!
