Good headphones for bike riding?

I can never get those damn ear buds to stay in my ears and need something to stay in place while i'm riding my bike. I am just looking for something inexpensive that's comfortable. Suggestions? This is just to play music from my cheap sandisk mp3 player.

First of all, you shouldn't listen to music while biking. You need to be listening and paying attention to your surroundings.

IF you do get phones, buy one that is OPEN, meaning outside noise can get in, and your music gets out.

^ if he's riding on cross-country trails it's fine. If he's commuting on the road, DON'T do it.

Not sure what brand exactly to recommend, but I like those ones that wrap behind your head. They stay on pretty well.

Here's a link to the ksc-75. Theyre basically selling for half off now. Seriously, they're good for exercise and sound amazing for their price. This should be a no-brainer.

I often sometimes wear my headphones while biking.

I kinda agree it's a tad dangerous when you are on teh road, but i'm generally sidewalking it anyway; just errands, so its' not too bad.

I use some Sennheiser PX100s.
They must have something much newer in that line now.

I gotta say that when biking in the backwoods of Virginia, headphones are a great idea. Of course, this assumes that you won't act liek an idiot, and pause your music when coming to a light.


There are some parts where I go at least 10miles without seeing a soul, so headphones and some appropriate music add to the adventure. That said, you gotta admire nature. Even when I do take them, I end up usign them for less than 50% of the time. Usually the sound of nature is quite pleasant and fufilling, but on your way back from a gazliilion-mile trip, the wind starts getting on your nervea (wind hitting the head strap that is right next to your ear is the worst) and a little music makes the last grueling miles more enjoyable.

keep in mind that even inthis scenario high volumes and closed headphones are a very bad idea. We have bares and and absolutely insane population of beavers and rabbits that run on and off the trail....so you have to be vigilant....

as for biking in the city with phones? not on your life...


I used t use those wrap arounds and while they work, make sure you try them on first because some of them HURT LIKE HELL after a while.

Honestly, WHat I used to use most of the time were Sony el-cheapo phones held in place siwh my helmet. Worked great....

Well call street, by fisher lecture hall. I bought my bike at walmart and usually just fix it myself. I've gotten parts at this place down on tennessee and magnolia. They sold me new barrings for $2. Seemed pretty reasonable.
