Good Guys AT&T, Cingular and T-Mobile V60 free AR

Good Guys have the v60 in multiple carrier flavors on sale this week for $0 after rebate.

A question for folks though - I have AT&T Wireless now, and my contract is over. AT&T will only give me $75 off the v60 for a price of $100 when I threaten to cancel. Even though some of these v60 deals at various places have been going on, they don't want extend these to existing customers.

So, I was thinking, could I cancel, and then subscribe again and get the v60 for free from good guys? Or is there some catch where thye won't let me be a new customer again? Has anyone tried this?

This would appear to be a good deal. I know my number would change, but this isn't worth the $100 to me. Seems like AT&T doesn't want to even give me what a new customer gets to keep me.

ok, I'm gonna go on a tangent here...

For Cingular, back in the days (about 2 year ago), I had the same problem. The thing was, I coucld cancel with Cingular at that point in time, but i couldn't get the deal new customers got because there is a 6 month black out period for previous customers. That was just plain BS, so i complain to cingular and they cave in and gave me a new phone for the price new customers go it for on the condition that i renew my contract for 1 year.

I threaten Cingular 2 weeks ago to cancel my contract, and they gave me $175 credit for a $250 phone (Sony T68i with camera). 1 year contract renewal.

I think there is a black out period in which you can't activate any other ATT wireless acct for 3 months or something. That what happened to my ex-gf. Well, in her case she just sign up and then canceled within 24hr so they didn't let her activate another contract, she did this because i found a better deal for free cell phone. Well, in your case i'm not really sure.

Well i called ATnT to cancel my plan that ends tom and they were like we will give you the 8265 for 69.99

150 is the selling price - 50 instant rebate and 30 credit to my account.

I sat there thinking any ordinary cell store gives em for free with a new contract.

The guy said there is no black out period. But who are they stupid people tryin to make a sale.

Didn't you get a discount on a phone when you first signed up?

Its a 6 mth period

Where do you get the rebate from if you are an ATT customer. I bought a V60 2 days ago and it did nto come with a rebate form?

How did you threaten Cingular? I'd like to get that $175 off $200 on the Ericsson T68i too 🙂
Thanks.

all you do is call 611 from your phone and tell them you want to cancel because you can get a cheaper phone if you sign up with someone else. they will offer a $100-175 credit on your bill depending on how long youve been with them and if you always pay on time. they offered me $100 so i went to best buy and got the t68i for $100 w/ a free camera. no rebates involved. they called cingular from the store to tell them i was renewing for a year and then cingular credited $100 to my bill that day. i dont know if best buy still has that deal, i got it about 10 days ago.

yup calling 611 definitely works cuz i work at cingular n i recommend the customers usually call before upgrading their phones. it varies how much they credit u depending on who u talk to

You are considered a new customer as long as the phone number is new. I've verified this with two representatives. I've actually signed up for a new AT&T contract and got a discount on a new phone and I still didnt even cancel my old one yet. Still got a few days on it.

while we are on this subject, any good deals? What about the retention program? My contract expired last month. I currently have AT&T, and they offer me the exact same plan that they offer for new activation. That's just insulting! I can get a new phone with the exact same plan! WTF! I guess they don't really care about their customer. Any particular suggestions/advice for negotiating with them?

Both rebates were given to me at the store. Not sure if they are available on line, but the AT&T $50 rebate was one of those that look like you tear it off a stack.

I know it's very infuriating when they don't give you the same offer to stay as a new sub gets. That's why I was willing to ditch my number to get the new deal. But just wait until November of next year when cell number portability becomes required. Then you can switch carriers and not lose your service. This will really improve the retention offers we get...

Thanks....

PS BTW, there are a couple dealers in the SF bay area that seem give you a v60 for free with activation with no rebates required. I think people are matching the goodguys offers.

I was at Good Guys yesterday and was told all the rebates end today Dec 31. I assume they'll have new promotions later this week though.
