good gas mileage car ? 25 mpg +

I want to know whats a decent gas mileage car that I should look into getting, I want to keep the years allright, but I mostly want to know whats good stable car. I have a 94 Dodge Shadow that has been living for nearly a year, almost at 200k miles so I know its going to die soon. I prefer manual, any makes and models, and how much gas mileage it gets??

Civic is your best bet for a practical, reliable car that gets terrific mileage.

My '89 MR2 gets ~28/33 🙂
which is pretty good for something a bit more exciting to drive, albeit impractical.

Of course, if you go down that path you might as well get a Lotus Elise...23/27 for a REAL sports car.

If you want boring, uber-reliable, practical, good mileage, you get pretty much ANY civic. Check out www.fueleconomy.gov, it's not perfect but fairly accurate. Civics are always way up there.

My MR2 is 100% stock, here's a pic. It's great fun, but man, not much trunk space with the engine in the back 🙂
It's got 150k with almost all original parts...I believe alternator, brake pads, and (very soon) clutch are the only things that didn't come with the car. Very reliable sports car. Lots of people go way above 200k miles on them if you do your maintenance and don't drive like a moron.

On that note, it still gets ~31 mpg when you're winding out the gears to redline on backroads...the mileage only drops when your average speed is below 30-40 mph or so.

yeah, I hope to get a lot of miles out of the one I have and save even more for a newer car (new to me!).

I really like a 94 BMW I saw...how do those last :S

My sister had a Dodge Shadow...all I can say is that if you can get 200K from a Shadow, you should be able to get a trillion miles from a Honda or Toyota.

My '86 MR2 pulled 44mpg highway..following a car towing a trailer, though..so I wasn't going too fast. 🙂
