What exactly is a 'gaming' hard drive anyway, and why has this silly expression invaded every part of my daily life? Will people be asking for 'gaming' DVD writers next?
I realize that you probably weren't entirely serious about this, but what is more important than intended use? Knowing that the purpose of the HDD would be to install and run games from is a valuable piece of information, whatever your opinions on gaming are.

A gaming mouse might have high DPI with gaming related features, such as DPI toggles for sniping or adjustable weights. A gaming keyboard might have macro abilities and be backlit so the keys are easily viewed in the dark. Having the word "gaming" available to describe intended use is not a bad thing.

On topic, I agree with the F3 as an excellent recommendation for people who play a lot of different games. Lots of people have several hundred GB (or much more) in their steam directory which doesn't work great with a SSD. SSD's on the other hand are ideal if you play one game, such as an MMO, predominately and are concerned about loading times in those few games.
