Good fan for the PAL8045?

I have the YS Tech 47 CFM fan on it right now, and it seems to be rather loud. Are there any fans that can push around 40-50 CFM and are much more quiet than the YS Tech?

I just got a Panaflo for a new 8045. Good job of cooling and very quiet.

You can find it at Newegg, among other places. Here's their description:

One more thing...Alpha shows on their site that the fan blowing up (away from the heatsink) will provide the best cooling, but YMMV. 🙂

I second the Panaflo if your looking for quiet...Its rated lower CFM than what your looking for, but it keeps my 1800+ as cool as my original fan did, and much quieter... The only thing I kinda miss is not having RPM sensing, as the Panaflo (From BGMicro) doesn't support it... I have seen a few recommendations for another YS Tech (link) fan that offers lower CFM and is quiter than the current version you are running, but haven't had the oppurtunity to try it yet.

You could also use a Enermax, I used one on a 8KHA+ and XP1900 and it does a real good job, Set at 3000 RPM's you can't hear it run and even with the FSB at 138 it keeps the case at 29C and the processor at 45C under full load and that is without a front case fan, I have the fan blowing on the alpha and with this kind of tem I am not changing it, Used AS3

Get a YS Tech 80mm 48.5 cfm 36 dba fan they push lots of air and they are quiet, that is what I had on my Alpha and they work great with not much noise at all. I got mine at svcompucycle.com they also have a new adjustable 80mm fan from YS Tech that may work out nice for you.

Thanks to all you guys who answered. I have a bunch of Panaflo L1A's, but I don't think they push enough air. The one IndyJaws mentioned wasn't my part number, soooo...

I did some searching and found these Thermaltake fans for $8 a pop. This place doesn't rape you on shipping either.

Also bought an Akasa 60mm to 80mm aluminum fan adaptor, on sale for $7.50. Gonna use that for my trusty old Alpha 60** series heatsink.

Just a FYI on the Panaflos(all 5 are the low flow version from BGMicro)... I have 4 as case fans in my Antec 840SX and one on my 8045 and the highest temp I have seen on my 1800+ is 38c.... I am running a Epox 8KHA+ and I am not sure how accurate the temp sensor is, but I certainly can't complain about the readings from MBM5...🙂

I already jumped on the Thermaltake fans tho'. I plan on overclocking my 1900+. 'sides, you just can't balk at 46 CFM 27dB @2900 rpm.

ummmm about that thermaltake fan---Air Flow 46 CFM at 2900rpm, 53 CFM at 5000rpm , and Noise 27 dB at 2900 rpm, 39 dB at 5000 rpm . these numbers really don't match up, I assume there is a typo on the cfm numbers. maybe 36 cfm at 2900rpm. just a guess. still a nice fan tho. thermaltake does make a 37cfm@30dba (2900rpm) (80mm) fan.😉

The point of diminished returns with airflow vs cpu temp is really very low with an 8045. Anything past about 40cfm or so accomplishes very little compared to the increase in noise. Don't take my word for it, try a panaflo or sunon with about that output, you'll see what I mean.....

Tt paints a pretty rosy picture in reference to airflow vs noise. They're generally more than a little, uhh, optimistic- more like tall tales around the campfire.....

Antec 80mm stealth, just bought one and it's practicly inaudible, and still moves a great deal of air! 21dba, 28cfm, more than enough.
