Good Encryption or "Folder Lock" Program

endoftheline2

Junior Member
I'm looking for a good program that will let me encrypt a single folder, so that you have to enter a password to view the files inside it/ decrypt it.

I;m looking for something that won't slow down the accessing of folders and files that much, and that works well across windows xp, vista, 7.

Anyone know of a program like this? Doesn't have to be free per say, I'd be interested in for pay programs as well if they are good.

Really is the best there is for this sort of thing. TrueCrypt FTW.

the best free one anyway, that just so happens to support the most platforms (Linux, Mac, Windows), AND can do full disk encryption on Windows.

Yet another vote for TC 😉

Will TrueCrypt prevent files from appearing in a search? It sounds like they might still appear in the results but won't be accessible. Is this correct?

If the volume or container is unmounted, there isnt a search in the world that will find the contents. (unless theres leftovers in cache, swap space, etc, but thats another discussion)
