We use GOOD for corporate email at work on our handhelds and this poses a problem because I like to try different roms on my handheld. Even if I use titanium backup to backup the good app plus data, when I restore it, I cannot get email and have to have the email team generate a new good code for me to reinstall. This is starting to piss them off.

Any idea how to make it so that good doesn't need to be reset with a new code? I can still access the corporate calendar and corporate email address registry, I just cannot get email. There has to be a file or setting somewhere that can be edited to start working again but I can't find it on google. Any ideas?

There likely isn't a way. You're probably going to need a new code every time. And what you're describing with the calendar and address book is common. When we get users that setup their phones but are using Verizon plans that aren't flagged for Good Messaging the email will stop working but the calendar will keep working. After they get Verizon to setup the account right they always need a reprov to get email going again. Good Messaging is picky as shit.

You can try to do a soft reprov and see if that works. I haven't tried a soft reprov on Android devices, so it may not even work, but worth a shot.

Go to Good Preferences | About Good Mobile Messaging
Type in “debug” without quotes. You will not see the text on the screen as you type, but it will open a hidden command prompt.
A command window will open, type in “reprov” without quotes and and hit enter.
You will be prompted that this will erase all data from the handheld. This only refers to data synced with the Good software. Type in “yes” without quotes and hit enter
Your device will restart and the Good software will resync all of your emails/calendar/contacts/etc.

Yea then it doesn't work on Android and likely the iPhone. There may be another way to soft reprov these devices, but I haven't found it.

edit: on the be.good.com forums others have indicated the typical commands that worked on Windows devices like "reprov" and "getcal" don't work on Android or the iPhone. So unless there is a way to soft reprov Android devices (which may not even work for you anyway), you're going to have to get a new PIN every time. I'd suggest getting chummy with your admin. We like beer.

Thanks for trying to help me. I do appreciate it.

Wow, been scouring the web for months (Xda-devs and such). Never thought I would find someone in the same boat. I have definitely been trying Titanium Backup, but no luck for me as well. I would really like to try more ROMs like you said. Anyway, will subscribe... please let us know if you find a solution on your end and I will do the same :)
