Good Eats!

This has got to be one of the best cooking shows on TV. He's a little annoying sometimes, but I like how he doesn't just tell you "do this and this" he tells you why... like with scrambled eggs, he said to start them on low heat until they start to coagulate, then crank up the heat to finish them up quick because if you crank the heat up right away, the eggs will coagulate before the protein creates some sort of structure which traps water, and you'll end up with dry eggs in a puddle of water, and if you cook them too slow the water will evaporate before the eggs coagulate and you end up with dry eggs.

Anyone remember Wok With Yan? lol... I use to watch that when I was in grade school.

Good Eats is a great show. I love all of the scientific tidbits he throws in and his type of humor. It may be stupid at times, but it can get a chuckle out of me.

Wok With Yan I've never heard of though. Yan Can Cook with Martin Yan I used to watch on PBS. Is that what you're talking about?

If Yan can cook, so can you!

Yan Can Cook... hmmm... maybe a newer show with the same guy? The one I'm talking about was a Chinese guy with a VERY heavy Chinese accent.

Wok With Yan was a Canadian show hosted by Stephen Yan. Yan Can Cook was hosted by Martin Yan.

BTW, Martin Yan from Yan Can Cook was faking his "Chinese" accent in the show.
The guy actually speaks perfect english.
But he wanted to sound more oriental and mystical, so he put on that stupid annoying accent.

PLUS he can't cook, well, not very well at the least. If you actually go look at his shows again, he has very little talent and half the time, he just sloshes the thing around, before taking out another plate of pre-prepared cuisine, claiming that his dish will look just like this in 15 minutes.

yeahg.... Good Eats is a great show for amateur "chefs" 🙂 other than that I also enjoy Naked Chef or Olivier's Twist. (his instructions are not as clear and simple as Good Eats' but his way of presentation won my heart)

anyway, Martin Yan do have a little bit of accent, not as exaggerated as in his shows. (I met him in person once, he is like 5' 5'', short dude, but he seems like he never age)

good eats is great, i just got alton browns book "im just here for the food" a few days ago
explains alot of things that id been needing to know since ive started cooking more.

still waiting for iron chef america to hit the air....i watch alot of food tv

Good eats is one of the only shows I watch on FoodTV. Alton Brown is great. I really like learning the science behind the food.

Fantastic show. Unique and very well done. I've tried many of Alton's cooking techniques with great success...

Yep its pucker 😀

I hate him, lol. It always sounds like he's got a speech problem and may be spitting in the food as he talks. And his story about when he was doing a cooking show in front of an audience and he accidently chopped the end of his finger off and he just kept on going and the end of his finger ended up in the food and someone had to have ended up eating it just made me sick.

the thing that really annoying me about him is that he is obessesive compulsive about cleanliness.

jamie oliver is awesome!

OMG 'Wok With Yan' I remember that show!! That guy was awesome!!! He always used to tell 'wok' jokes, and always had some Confucian 'wok' saying on his apron!

LOL it took over 4 hours to post it...typed it in just as the forums went down! Went out to a bar with people and watched G. Tech and Dook win.

its like mr wizard does cooking. nice to hear the reasoning behind stuff.🙂 just started watching it and its just damn interesting🙂

i want to get that book. I have a few of "good eats" dvds. its a great show. i have tried a few of histhings and they work!

Good Eats is a good show. he shows the science behind it. He does go overboard with the play acting at times but he delivers solid info on how things work.

Love the show, but can never see it through. Mrs. Carbo hates the dude, gets bored ten minutes into it, and insists on making love to me to pass the time. Damn that woman!
