I'm tried of win9x/me defragmenter. Can anyone recommend me a good defragmenter which I can defrag my system files, swap file..everything!! inside my harddisk ? I like norton speed disk but I don't like all the other ultilities junks.
Thanks.

What version of Norton are you running? I have run a few different ones, and they are the best. I have 2002, and if you can get your hands on a copy, try it. Also, have you run live update for your Norton software? You might like it better if you get an updated one.

The built-in one works almost as well as alternatives. I think the win98 defrag is based on speedisk. The winMe one might be based on diskeeper like the win2K one.

It's based on the DOS version of SpeedDisk from way back in the day 😉 The current SpeedDisk does substantially more than the MS version (like moving of the swap file)

Nope.

Check out this review: http://www.neowin.net/articles.php?action=more&id=13&perpage=1&pagenum=1

So, I checked out O&O and it seems a bit too technical against my little knowledge about defragging and the O&O software.

I am not sure which variation of the defrag process to run.

Here is my setup:

Drive #1:
C:\ = 1GB FAT32
D:\ = 3.5GB FAT32 Win98 SE
E:\ = 6 GB NTFS Win2K Pro
F:\ = 6 GB NTFS WinXP Pro
etc.

Drive #2:
M:\ = 10 GB FAT32
N:\ = 20GB NTFS

What would offer the best improvement in performance? Stealth, Complete /Date, Complete /Access, etc.? They is not much explanation as to which one would be the best for my situation. I just want to defrag my hard drive and not screw up my computer! 🙂

Thanks!
