Good Deals on Mazda 3's?

I'm still kinda torn between just getting 2002 Civic with 50k miles, slapping my existing 17" Motegi Rims on it, and putting in a good stereo system.... I could do that and it wouldnt cost me more than $14k. its that or, getting a new Scion TC for about $19k, or going a bit farther and getting a Mazda 3s Touring... The mazda's MSRP, with the options I want, is just under $23k. I want the factory integrated, amp powered BOSE stereo, but I'm going to replace the speakers with better components. I like my music loud, so its imperative that my stereo be amp powered and have the ability to easily add a sub. They way it looks, the Bose upgrade provides the integrated stereo with an amp that I could use to power components.. I also plan to get rims for it.. So I'm looking at about $2000 in Aftermarket upgrades as well... ($500 components, $500 sub/amp, $1000 for rims). I have about $1000 to put down, and I'll probably finance the aftermarket upgrades with the sale of my current 97 civic...

I was just wondering if anybody knew of any secrets to knocking a few grand off the sticker price of the Mazda... I really only wanted to spend 18-19k, but I like the mazda and it seems to be the car of choice in the market right now.. I'm a firm believer if the concept of, if you are going to spend THAT much money, might as well stretch and get what you really want.. I can afford the $23k car, but I'm very cost concious, and I think I would have a good car with a used civic and almost half the payment.. I looked over the mazda's features, and I kinda decided that if I'm going to get one, I'm going to get a good one. I want the bigger engine, sunroof, bose system, leather, etc... My aunt has a mazda 3 hatch with the leather, etc, and she loves it.

You are pricing the grand touring, not the touring right, Bose is only available in the Grand Touring (you aren't in Canada are you, might be different there)? The touring is about $19.6k MSRP with leather, moonroof, 6CD. If you are replacing the speakers anyway there is not much point to getting the Bose system IMO (not that their is any point in getting the Bose system even IF you are keeping it stock, I have listened to the Bose system in a 6 and was not impressed). I don't see much point to getting the grand touring unless you really want the Navi system, buy an atlas and save $1700.

My only reason for getting the BOSE system was that it was powered, and I didn't want to mess with getting an aftermarket amp, and having to use line level inputs to signal the amp. I figured with the Bose system, the power was already there, factory integrated, and things like cross overs, etc would already be in place and I would simply have to drop in the better speakers..

yea grand touring.. the nicest package...

Be careful with the Bose amp. I'm not sure tying into it is a plug-n-play operation. They tend to be proprietary.

yeah doesnt the bose systems ususally use a onboard amp close to speaker.. that's how i know it was in my friends car.

It was a bitch to replace.

I have an older Audi with a bose system and it's impossible to upgrade without tearing out all of the existing components. Each speaker is powered by it's own amp which are incompatable with any other speakers. Bose is garbage anyways, save the upgrade money and put that towards a nice amp, speakers and sub. You can probably get a shop to install all that for you for cheaper than the stock Bose would cost you.

i just spent a few hours reading on some mazda 3 forums... I'm finding that they aren't very fond of the BOSE system. I saw some pretty slick installs, so I think I'll save the $1500 for the bose upgrade and use that towards aftermarket stuff..
