The CPU is good (for me), but is the Video Card better or worse than my Radeon 48oo series? (4850 I think)

Hmm best elaborate what hardware u currently have, resolution u gaming on, etc so we could better advise you on your planned move I can say that a HD 4850 > 9800GT $190 for an LGA 775 dual core these days does not make a lot of sense either to be honest...

Combo is only $15 off, so no, not worth it. If you really want the E8500, just buy it separately. As batuchka said though, even that is probably not worth it.

decided against it...the 8400 good enough, and I can OC to at least 3.8 on air
