wjones, thanks for this info, I had ordered this a couple of days ago and the order went through. They never told me it was on backorder. I called them and they said they are out of them and they have not ordered anymore. So my order would have just sat there forever.

The way you said it makes it $123 esquared. And the cdr/drive bundle is a better deal :) I got it in other day finally after returning my 8x4 burner... ordered it on late tuesday night, got it in ups ground thursday (the drive) and the discs on wed. :).

It's true, the 50 pack bundle is a better deal. but Ingram Micro (buy.com's ONLY distributer) is showing that there are ZERO of these bundles IN STOCK. they have no ETA, and real time availability is showing nothing on order in any of their warehouses. they have a reference to the non-bundled pack for the same price on ingram micro (however, buy.com sells them for diff prices). It is my guess that the 50 pack bundle was a promotional, and now the 213$ product is all that is available. However, maybe they will get around to ordering some (who knows if tdk even offers this bundle anymore, like i said, probably a one time promotional), but I serriously doubt it.

Tiger,
esquared numbers do seem correct. 213.95 - 30 = 183.95 - 50 = 133.95. is there some further discount/rebate that is being missed out?

thx.

It seems the TDK site is down, anyone else know for sure whether or not it'll be back up eventually, and how long the rebate's good for? I've tried also going through rebateplace.com, and thier link to the rebate is down too. Thanks for the links tho, veloCD for me ;)
Peace out,
Fried

UPDATE- I found the rebate on CC's site, if anyone needs the rebate form now. Here's a link to the site.

Bummer.
I ordered one on Thursday morning when they were in stock, and then they went to Back Order. I called them to tell them that it shows in stock now, and they told me that that is incorrect. They have none on order and cannot give me an ETA. So . . . THEY ARE NOT IN STOCK ANYMORE. Call them and verify before placing an order. They told me to call back tomorrow and they will call warehouse to find out. I can post information with what they find out if interested.

Buy.com's site does not mention the rebate. I know they participated in the rebate that ended 12/31 (in December someone posted an e-mail from TDK that confirmed that.) But are they participating in the new rebate? I called Buy.com and the CSR said he does not know.

Well, just cancelled my order for the drive only and did a new one for the bundle. I had selected 2 day shipping, but didn't on the new order. Ended up being only $0.71 more for the bundle!!! I just hope I get it soon.....total before rebate: $197.26!!! WOW! Ends up only being $137.26 shipped when you include the $10 rebate for the cdr's!!

Damn $153 and change with tax.... for the bundle.

I liked the sound of $133 much better!

The CC rebate link does not work. Anyone else have the link to the rebate on this drive?

cybordolphin:

Here is a link to both rebates. It's got the $50 for the drive, and the $10 for the CD-R's. TDK's site is currently down though, so you'll have to check it tomorrow.

Ok, now I'm kinda worried...
I ordered that drive yesterday, but someone says they heard that buy.com isn't an authorized retailer. anyone know for sure? as they said in there thread, which was locked, dunno why, there's gonna be alot of unhappy people out 50 bucks. just my 2 cents for now.
Peace out,
Fried

I just added a new post with some new information I stumbled upon regarding the TDK rebate. However, my thread was locked (??? - not sure where I went wrong - I didn't reference anything that has not already been linked to within the "Hot Deals" forum). What I am concerned about is if the informatin in my locked post is correct. A lot of us will not be receiving our TDK rebates...bad news.

Oh...and could someone please explain to me where I went wrong. I really don't post in the "hot-deals" forum too often and I know there are some different rules. I want to prevent my making the same mistake in the future. Thanks a lot.

Look at what techbarxxxxx.com has to say about this......

<< Buy.com has the TDK Velo 12/10/32 w/50 pack free CDRs for $220.95 - $30 coupon = $190.95 Then get a $50 mail in rebate to bring cost down to $140.95. $50 Rebate link. This is a rebadged Plextor. Roundsparrow has a page on changing the VeloCD 12x10x32's name back to the original maker - Plextor. Update: TDK reports that the media rebate is not available for this deal. Update2: TDK also reports that Buy.com is not a "participating retailer." BestBuy listed this rebate in their weekly ad and also gives a $20 gift card. Contact TDK for other "participating" retailers. >>

Thanks TheLizardMan,

I just started a new thread with this new information...but the thread was locked for some reason. Thanks for bringing this up as I believe it is rather important for all of us that bought the unit to know what is really going on with the rebate.

Anyone know of a Sku number or something for staples, andif they're doin a 40 off or anything, and also if they're a participating retailer, then those who ordered the drive could PM, get the 40 off, and then the rebate. I dunno, shot in the dark

Dammit, when I need the telephone number, of course the site's down. I probably would have info on whether or not buy.com is a "participating retailer" but it seems tdk's site is down fer now....2nd time in, what, 24 hours? Ah well, i'll get there eventually
