Been shopping this awhile and came across a good scenario which might help anyone else looking for this. It uses the 30 off 150 at Buy.com coupon which puts these books about as low as I have seen them anywhere.

Buy.com:

SKU
30634757 Microsoft Windows 2000 MCSE Core Requirements Training Kit with CDROM (Paperback) 1 $149.99 $149.99
10235178 CDROM JEWEL CASES - BLACK 10-PK 1 $2.79 $2.79 (to get to $150)
xxxxxxx $30 coupon off $150 or more 1 ($30.00) ($30.00) (must get your own :p)

Subtotal $122.78 + 6.xx s/h

Enjoy!

That is where I was originally going to get them (Bookpool)...but I think they have been out of stock for quite some time. Didn't feel like waiting around for them.

I did a search for "mcse" on buy.com and it came up with:

http://www.us.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=20320530&loc=105

This is the same "MCSE TRAINING KIT WINDOWS 2000 CORE REQUIREMENTS" with the same ISBN/Part # as the one you listed for $149.99 but this one is selling for $97.95.

If you add something for $2-3 you can use the $15 off $100 coupon to get it even cheaper.

It is listed as backorder right now... I wonder if they would ever actually ship this one. I went ahead and ordered it.

J-dub,

I saw that on there as well. I just ordered a set too. In fact, buy.com has two listings, one ending in 105 and one ending in 106 (see below):

http://www.us.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=20320530&loc=105

http://www.us.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=30634757&loc=106

I cannot tell any difference. They have the same ISBN number. The ONLY difference is that one is sold in the "software" store and the other in the "books" store. When mine arrive, I will let you know if there are any differences or anything.

BTW.... Just looked on Amazon and B&N both have the version with the CDs for $159.99. Looks like the buy.com deal is best considering BookPool is out of stock, unless you have enough Flooz to get it from B&N

Is the books on CD companion anything more than the included paper books in an electronic format? If so, to me, no big deal.

Well, I jsut got my set delivered today and it looks like the complete set. It included the four books as described as well as two CD's...one with the 120-day trial of Windows 2000 Server and the other being the companion CD including all of the books electronically. This HAS to qualify as a hot deal at $98.00!!!!

I can only see this being a hot deal for someone who wants to get this regardless. From my MCSE NT4.0 traning I can tell u MS Press sucks. They are full of unesscery information and many mistakes.

BTW for MCP's in NT 4.0 WS, Server and Server in the enterprise. You are entiteld to a free Accelerated exem from MS.

I also just got my book from buy...

It is the MCSE 2000 study guide by IDG though , refer to earlier post.

It seems promising with 1500 pages. I just hope this is the Alan Carter Quality kind of book.

I will couple my studies with my Win2k server resource kit.

For those that purchased the various MCSE study guides, what's the final verdict. MS, IDG or Carter?
