Hahahahaha!

Update:

Actually you'd probably be better going with a system like this:

Thread

and just adding a cheap(er) hard drive, cpu, heatsink, ram, and cd rom.

The specs for the machine don't seem to say what type of CD drive comes with it either.

Nice find, although the next computer I "buy" is one that I build myself.. hehe... too bad it doesnt list the motherboard so we can figure out the highest cpu that could be tossed in.

Thanks

Your "build it yourself" pricing has one big hole - no operating system. Add that to your costs and the Bluelight Special looks like the better deal. Quite frankly, I'm tired of building my own - getting cheaper to buy one and upgrade it later ;)

Hmm, I wonder how many Anandtechers actually pay for their own OS?

Yes, exactly.

I read on another board, from people that have ordered the system, that included in the box is a rebate form for $100.

Sweet deal... especially for those without their A+.
There probably is a good opportunity for a new thread
based solely on AAT ers that tried to assemble their
own system and then screwed up royally and ended up
having to get a friend fix it or worse pay some tech
a major piece of change to make it right.
Nothing is as easy as you think it is.

But if you are going to do that, heck, why not just walk into the store and steal the rest of the parts too. What you are referring to doing is the same thing - STEALING. I'll climb off my soapbox now (and before anyone asks, yes, all my machines have original OS on them - bought all three new - Dell, Compaq and Compaq laptop - with the OS. With deals I got on here, I can buy them cheaper than I can build them ($350 for my Dell with 800mhz).

Stealing from the devil himself is not a crime.

I would say his return on investment from that
original dos program that he bought for $5000 I believe
(that Gates didn't even create himself) has to be the
longest ride on someone else's coat tails in the history
of man (thanks to IBM)

If it wasn't for the crook alcoholic Bush and the
supreme idiots MS would be in the process of being
dis-assembled right now

Here's a free energy bar for listening to me rant :D

Do you have a link to that discussion? For $150, I'd buy that system. I was thinking of getting an upgrade chip for my son's P-II/266 but this is easier.

Amex Blue user can get an extra $30.00 on the deal by using this link

FYI - Coupon shows as $15 off $75 when you enter the bluelight.com promo page, but the correct amount of $30 is deducted and displayed at the final checkout screen.

The in box rebate offer is for $50.00 not $100.00 , but I would not count on it being paid as the company that builds these and is offering the rebate is no longer.....well you know, its .Gone

PPS they have a 633mhz version of this system for $50 more but it's out of stock. Does anyone know when they last had it in stock, and does it also have the $100 rebate? $50 more for 633 vs 533 seems to be a decent deal.
