EDIT: you will need to get lucky to get a $208 pricematch. Staples (for me) has always pricematched the total cost including shipping. Who else can we pricematch this to?

You may have made my weekend.

I'll be going to Staples tommorow to see if they have one in stock, I may drive to other stores as well, bring a friend since the rebate's gotta be 1 per household.

This is awesome if the manufacturer's rebate goes through.

I saw a variation of this deal on f4tw4ll3t and I don't think this will work. Starting Sunday they will be dropping the price from 299 to 279. Then there is 80MIR so it will come out to 199. You think they are gonna PM 208 before MIR when after MIR they beat the price? No way. You must talk to some crazy nub CSR's b/c I have been PMing to staples for a long time and never have they PM'ed to a price they beat after rebate, especially since there is $40 in shipping.

However, your right, this is a hot deal. 299 - IR 20 - 40 off 200 - 50 MFG Rebate - 80 Staples rebate = 109+Tax. This is a very decent 19" monitor. 1280x1024 @ 91Hz and .25dot pitch. Very hot, I plan on partaking on this deal.

BTW, the MFG rebate might disapear on sunday so go print it now! Send original UPC to MFG and copies to Staples, it works every darn time!!!

I just saw this same post on f4tw4ll3t and in that post it says that the person actually did the deal? omg, the deal doesn't start till Sunday... did you make the same post or just copy it? I really don't care if you copied it b/c there are deals there that the anand community should know about, I just want to know if you actually did this successfully? And if you know you can't get the 80MIR b/c it starts on Sunday.

You need to find Staples people who are totally unaware of their own policies to get this to work.

From Staples price match policy:

"Available coupons and rebates will be deducted from the Staples price to come up with a net Staples price when calculating the price match.

Shipping and handling charges are included. When comparing our price to another company's delivery price, the equivalent shipping and handling charges will be included."

Any way to get this deal online (w/out PM)? I'm in the market for a monitor...and this would fit the bill and my budget :)

The Pricematching worked like a charm. Thanks guys :) Now the rebates are both Philip's rebates with the same mailing address, except different departments. Both have www.pcerebates.com (Philip's rebate site) as the place to check for status.

The one that printed out of the staples register:

$80 109B Rebate
Dept. # MON02400
P.O. Box 3600
Medina, OH 44285
USA

POSTMARK DATE: 10/28/2002

The $50 one from staples website:

$50 109B Rebate
Dept. #MON02388
P.O. Box 3600
Medina, OH 44258-3600

POSTMARK DATE: Within 30 days of purchase.

I'm going to send in the $80 rebate first, and check the status online, and when it gets approved, (hopefuly withing a month), i will send the $50 rebate in. If i only get the $80 one, ~$100 (including tax) isnt bad for a monitor.

Good Luck

I looked at this deal this morning at a local Staples B&M. I had the manager printout the new Philips $80 MIR. As posted above, it is also a Philips manufacturer MIR and NOT a Staples rebate so you can forget about getting both rebates since both require you to print the S/N of the monitor on the rebate form. There is no way that Philips is going to pay both since they require the S/N and both forms clearly state that no valid with other Philips offers. With a successful price match and use of a Staples coupon your best price is still over $100 which is not too bad.

Here's how I got the Philips 109B20 for 36.08
Philips 109B20: +299.98
Pricematch 2buystore.com: -64.48
Instant rebate: -20.00
Manuf. Rebate: -50.00
Staples rebate: -80.00
Verbatim 40x12x48: +69.90
Rebate 1: -30.00
Rebate 2: -30.00
Rebate 3: -40.00
Coupon: -40.00
Tax: +20.68
-------------------------------------
Total: 36.08

Even if the $40 rebate for the cdrw doesn't come through, it is still only $75.
The only problem that I had was using the 40 off 200 coupon. Computer wouldn't let the CSR combine the instant rebate with the coupon. She said that the price of the monitor meets the IR requirements so the REST of the order (cdrw) needed to be over $200 by itself to use coupon. I said that that made no sense and she went to a supervisor to get a better way to make me understand. When she came back she said they'd honor the coupon but that it would not show up on the invoice... just my credit card would be charged $40 less. So... since the coupon doesn't come off the invoice price, I still paid tax on the extra $40 but heck, 3 bucks doesn't mean too much now that I have a 19" monitor and 40x12x48 CD-RW for a great price.

The rebate that printed out from the register does not clarify what i need to send in (UPC, receipt, etc). I'm sure its just like other rebates, but usually the form says it on it. It says

Proof of Purchase Requirements:
Purchase Philips 109B 19 Monitor (SKU
455079) between September 15, 2002 and
September 28, 2002 and receive $80 back by
mail.

Usually they say something like "send original upc, and receipt", etc

Got my receipt changed this afternoon for the one I bought on Friday. Everything is the same except the date on the receipt is today and the printout rebate form. I have also double checked the box. It comes w/ two UPCs. When I called Staples, one CSR told me $50 is for online order and $80 is for in-store purchase. But I gonna try to send both rebates with both original UPCs. The rebates go to two different departments. Also Philips rebate policy clearly states that if anything wrong with the rebate submission, they'll notify you and you have another chance to resubmit within one month.

Man...i'm having the hardest time pricematching this thing on the phone....2 different CSR's already. This is my first time doing a staples phone order by the way.

First thing...They keep trying to pricematch emscomputing monitor with overnight shipping..which equals no pricematch at all...then another person took off the $50 rebate before pricematching to ground shipping of EMS, which also came out to a difference of nothing.

man...i'm going to try in store tomorrow hopefully with more luck
