Anyone know of a good crock pot or place to buy one? My wife wants me to buy one, but I have no clue about these... Amazon has like a 100 of them, which doesn't help either.

Thanks!

So is not having a timer, like some of the new ones seem to have, a problem?

No matter which brand you get, make sure it has a removable crock - makes cleaning much easier. I actually have a few different ones in different sizes, and they all work fine.

What size would be good for a two-person family that may occasionally entertain more people? I see a lot of 4qt and 6/7 qt sizes.

Nah, if you need timer functionality and the one you buy doesn't have it, do what I do and use a seperate timer like this.

More important than the number of people you feed is the size of whatever you are going to cook in it. Need to make sure that roast will fit. :)

Just wait until you get married - you'll get about 5 of them, and you can compare them and keep the one you like best, regift the rest. ;)

Ours came from Target I think. The timer to turn it off and on isn't essential (you can get other things to deal with that), but one that will bring it down from hot to just warm after the food is done cooking is nice. That way your food isn't over cooked or cold when you get home to eat it.

Ours is a Rival, seems to work ok but the pot itself has a few flaws now in the ceramic.

I got a $20 one from Big Lots - hamilton beach 6qt - 3 heat settings (low/warm/hot) and I do like JDMnAR1 put and use one of those plugin timers. Works great every time :)
