Good credit card for transferring balances to?

Lucky

Lifer
Looking to transfer about 10K from three cards to one. Anyone know of a card with a decent offer for balance transfers for someone with decent credit who's 22?

Get a Sony Card from Citibank, they regularly send me some sweet balance transfer offers. I just received one for 3.9% until balance paid in full, no transfer fees. Also got offer from Bank Of America for variable at prime rate (4.9% now) until balnces paid in full with no fees!

At 22, you might have some trouble getting another 10,000 in unsecured credit, especially if you've ever been at or close to your limits on the other three, unless you close them for awhile first (not a bad idea the fewer cards you have the better for you).

You might have some luck talking to the creditors themselves and seeing what they have to offer when you tell them you want to close your account so you can transfer your balance. They might offer you something great like 0.0% for six months, or 1.9% for a year.

Good luck getting $10k at being only 22. It's possible but very unlikely, unless you've had credit you use frequently since you turned 18, make a decent salary, have sparkling perfect credit and minimal debt. Here's a few good balance transfer offers, it'll take some reading though.

Like the others said, it depends on what you make. Back when I was 22, (oh, last year), I got around $8k for the same purpose. I started with Discover, moved on to FirstUSA Visa, and recently went to MBNA Mastercard.

Honestly, I just look for the 0% APR with no annual fees and no balance transfer fees. I consider them short-term, no interest loans anyway, I'm not planning on staying with any of them long-term (except maybe MBNA).

Good luck!
