Good cpu heatsink for the EVGA/BFG 680i motherboard?

I'm guessing that 71c is way too much so I need something stronger than the stock intel heatsink. What's a good heatsink that doesn't cost $70?
Thanks for any answers.

Thermalright Ultra-120, Tuniq Tower 120 don't cost $70 and they are the 2 current best out there

While the mounting it could be an annoyance, Scythe Infinity gets my recommendation for this board. Its performance is top notch and you don't have to worry about back plate touching resistors on the back of the board.

While the stock heatsink is far from the greatest, you shouldn' be hitting 71c at stock speeds. The heatsink can be tricky to get mounted correctly, I would make sure it is fully seated.

Agreed. But then again, he didn't say he was at stock speeds, either.

My bad I'm trying to hit 3.2ghz on my 6400.
The 120's seem to be $50 to $55.
I see SVC has the Thermalright Ultra 90 on sale for $29.95 + the cost of a couple of Panaflo FBA09A12M1A 92mm fans = about $42
How is the Ultra90?

Tuniq Tower would get my vote as best in performance (till something better comes along) and it'll fit the 680i.

Cheapest I find the Tuniq Tower is $60 shipped and that's December 1st before it's in stock.
How much better is the Tuniq Tower 120 over the Thermalright Ultra 90?

Over the Ultra 90? It's tons better. The Ultra 120 is right up there with the Tuniq. You just don't get a fan with it so have to buy one.

If you value silence I'd take a look at the Scythe Ninja. You can get it for $40 or so. I got mine from jab-tech. I have my E6400 at 3.2 currently and hit just about 60C at full load. Haven't had a chance to fine tune it yet though. I still need to try lowering the vcore a bit more, at 1.41 in bios 1.35 under load according to cpuz.

I pulled off the stock heatsink and totally redid the AS5 layer on it. Between that and dropping my oc to 3ghz I got it to 63c max with two instances of prime95.
So I guess for now I'll just keep an eye out for a sale on on the Tuniq Tower 120 or Ultra 120. If anyone has one for sale, feel free to send me a PM.
Thanks for everyone's help. :)

I have a Scythe Ninja Plus. Keeps my E6600 at about 26 degrees under normal usage and only 43 under heavy gaming. The problem is, I want a 680i board now. I returned my 590 board. My backplate will not fit on the EVGA 680i board. I can't find anyone with the Asus board in stock.

I have 2 scythe ninja pluses (one is a RevB)

My E6400 runs at 3.43ghz w/ 1.46v and only hits 50c in dual prime orthos
My e6600 W/ same HSF ran 3.26ghz and dual prime at 56-57c but the added l2 cache is the culprit there
