People like John Mayer? WTF?

have you seen him play guitar? they don't call him slow hand jr for nothing.

Jesus Christ, John Mayer should never be compared to Clapton. That is a god damn sin.

tool - no quarter

Amazing song. The original even sounds like Tool. It's neat hearing the music that influenced Tool.

Just listened to it. Amazing isn't quite the word I'd use to describe it. Mediocre is more fitting.

FUCKING SAY IT!!!

lol he played that at the concert yeah it's not his best.

OH NO YOU DIDN'T

He's better than tool at least. It's real music.

Mayer's current music will be forgotten in a decade. He's talented as hell, no denying that, but take the amount of talent he pours into his music, then multiply that by four, each one mastering their role in painting an audible canvas which contains infinitely greater amounts of depth, quality and replayability (is that a word? I doubt it).

You can enjoy Mayer, that's cool, but Tool will go down in history as one of the all time greats. And they're doing it by doing what no one has done before, their own way, Mayer's formula has come and gone dozens of times. Mayer will go down in history as perhaps the most talented single mainstream musician.

Meh, I don't want to derail the thread -

Another bunch of my fav covers / remakes includes those by Rage, they've done a ton on their albums

Street Fighting Man
Kick Out the Jams

Those are a couple which kick the crap out of the originals IMO

Tools name is... Tool! that should tell you something, they have a fan base but they won't be remembered

Foo Fighters - Baker Street
Shudder to Think - So Into You
The Replicants - Ibiza Bar, Just What I Needed, Destination Unknown

I find it acceptable that he went to a John Mayer show. John Mayer isn't that bad, plus there was probably so much ass there for the taking that it wasn't funny.

certain reposts are acceptable but this is definitely one where a search would reveal SO MANY threads on the subject that a new thread seems weird. it's like posting a new, "What's There to do in Vegas" thread.

but how about Stone Temple Pilots - Dancing Days
