Well I am getting a new TV this weekend finally. I wanted to find some good Co-Op games that we can play on this new HDTV. We have gears of war and Marvel Alliance. Those games are pretty fun for Co-Op but we wanted to see if we were missing better games. Thanks for any thoughts.

Just a heads up, I was extremely disappointed in how the Rainbow 6: Vegas splitscreen story mode co-op was handled. They take out 95% of the dialog and the little bit they "forgot" to take out makes no sense whatsoever. Sometimes the maps will not cycle properly. It's playable, but it feels like you're beta testing for Ubisoft.

R6:V is pretty good for coop, but it's better online than it is offline.

Lego Star Wars II is a hell of a lot of fun on Coop.

An arcade game that I thought was fun is Heavy Weapon.

that's all I can think of at the moment :D

Gears of War
Rainbow Six: Vegas (although it is not the same missions as the regular single player game)
GRAW & GRAW 2 (again not the same missions as normal single player)

Thoughts on GRAW and GRAW2?

I'm anxious to try GRAW 1 & 2 because someone mentioned that two players on one Xbox 360 can both be on Live at the same time.

Something that we haven't found true to be in my other co-op exploits including: Gears of War, Rainbow 6, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance (!!!). Each of those I expected to two players to be able to jump on Live from the same box and was disappointed.

Especially for Marvel... what's up with that?

GRAW and GRAW2 co-op modes are NOTHING at all like the actual single player game, just keep that in mind.

The graphics are completely different, there is virtually no story, and you don't control any other groups of guys like you do in the story. You don't issue commands or any of that stuff.

That is what I loved about GoW, Halo1, and Halo2 co-op modes - it was the actual campaign mode with the story intact, only you are playing with an actual human person with you. That is what makes me anxiously await Halo 3 :)

Over Xbox Live, I agree. However, the OP sounds like he's going to play 2 players on one xbox 360, in which case you can't even do that with Crackdown.

I completely endorse Halo2 and Gears of War for online AND Co-op play (Haven't played the GRAWs or Crackdown yet). Lego Star Wars is a lot of fun co-op but has no online co-op. I have to also say that Guitar Hero II is a great, addictive co-op game, if you can find a second guitar (I searched around and found a refurb at EBGames). I hesitated to get the game originally because I had only heard of like 2 of the songs on the song list, but as soon as we opened the box, it's been a rock concert since.

I think Army of Two comes out in November (15th, perhaps?)

Lego Star Wars II

The only game I can get my wife to play with me. She absolutely sucks at GOW :).

Halo 3 is coming out late September. It has 2 person co-op on a single box and it will also feature a 4 person co-op which you can take advantage via system link over xbox live. Whether you choose to wait or buy something in the mean time, I highly recommend this game if you are into co-op games.

I thought I would try reviving this thread as I have the same question.

I will pick up Lego Star Wars and Halo 3 but are there are any other good co-op games like Gears of War where two people can play the story mode or single player campaign via split screen.

My wife and I beat GOW so now we need a new game to play together :)

Maybe Kane & Lynch: Dead Men? It at least has local co-op, but no online co-op :(. I haven't played it so I don't know if it's any good. I don't think any major titles with co-op support have been released since this thread died off that haven't already been mentioned. There are more co-op titles coming next year though, like Mercenaries 2, Army of Two, and The Club to name a few.
