Good Cigars?

Considering I am a poor starving college student, $7 for a *single* cigar is quite a bit... Not mention the cigars I've bought recently are ~.80c a tube...

I'll see if I can find some good local tobacco shops in town...

Well, I enjoy cigars quite a bit, and I do talk to myself a lot, so does that count?.

I typically spend a few hundred dollars per year on cigars. I will typically pay $60-$80 per box (20 or 25).

I'm actually getting ready to place an order for H Upmann Vintage Cameroons at $109 for 20. I consider that to be a splurge. El Rey del Mundo Robustos typically run $50-$60, which are my "standard". I am also a big fan of the Gloria de Cubana, which are usally $10-$15 more.

It's very different from cigarettes. Many people who do not smoke, can smoke cigars. A lot of it is in the fact that you don't inhale.

i know it might be difficult, but can you describe the flavor/sensations of smoking cigars? does it give you a little buzz?

Now that's worth a lol! $7 is way too much to spend for a cigar. Particularly if you don't smoke them often. For $4, you can get a great cigar and you won't know what your are missing.

I once spent $400 for a box of 25 Cohiba Siglo IV. While they were excellent cigars, they weren't any better than some Dominican cigars that I can buy for a third of that price.

I disagree. I almost always smoke between $4 and $7 after tax. $7 is only for fridays and sepcial occasions.

Weak...I spend $15 for the weekend.

I have never liked anything about cigarettes, but I love Cigars and love the taste. Although at first it's kind of like Cognac and Scotch to where it's a somewhat acquired taste, but now it's one of my favorite past-times. To me there is nothing better than smoking a CAO Cameroon and sipping on some 18 year old Macallan's Scotch while setting on my front porch.

I'd second that, cigarette's are very harsh. I have no idea why you'd smoke them to begin with, cigars are more smooth and have a very plesant taste/smell...

I'm so glad nobody has said macanudo yet. That's a good place to start, but your 3rd cigar needs to be something else.

I'm not at all an expert in any way shape or form ... but I've smoked about 30 or 40 different cigar's over the days.

Hand made cigars are the way to go.
Honduran cigars tend to be a bit "stronger" in flavor then other countries.

You don't have to spend $7 to $10. The stuff you can buy at gas stations is crap. Go to a cigar shop, and ask for a recomendation within a certain price range.

If you are looking for something cheap, a good alternative may be pipe smoking. You can get a decent pipe for 30 dollars and pipe tobacco is very cheap and can be quite tasty.

Humidors don't normally "plugin". You keep them hydrated with special crystals or other means (usually something that can soak up distilled water. You can make your own out of a cooler if you want

I have three. One is a very nice, solid cherry job with brass hinges that holds about 30 cigars and cost about $100. I also have an el-cheapo that I bought off from ebay for $30. They both perform about the same.

Then I have a glass one that came with some cigars I bought, and it outperforms the wood ones by far. Of course, it doesn't season the cigars very well, but for cigars that don't need seasoning, it keeps them better than the other two.

You need to maintain about 70% humidity to keep them from drying out.
