I am looking for an apt for around $500~600. The main locations that I am looking at is anywhere near pasadena, downtown and Santa Monica. Basically I am looking for a studio or 1 bedroom. The rent in these areas are usually pretty expensive....most of them ask for $1000 for a studio or 1 bedroom apt...........that is crazy. Anyone has an idea on how to find the right apt?

<< How about south pasadena? It's nice there. Kinda hot though. >>

South Pasadena would be fine. I don't care if it's hot or not....I mean..it's hot everywhere in LA during summer anyway.
Anyone of you living in a rent apt in these areas? The only two apts I can find in South Pasadena are Amberwood and Casa de General apt...and I haven't give them a call yet. I hope the rent in South Pasadena can fit in my budget.

Are you saying "downtown pasadena" or Pasadena, Downtown (LA)...

I'd say Santa Monica would be your best bet. A small studio away from the beach. Lot's of college kids and stuff.

Forget South Pas for the price you want IMO.

Shit, I was pricing Paseo Colorado (not a typical place, I know) but they wanted 1500 for a studio!!!) lol.

I'm looking to rent a guest house in Pasadena from a friend. I'm not sure how much he wants but it's not much more than your looking for. If my deal falls though, I'll try to look you up.

My brother lived in Amberwood apts in South Pasadena 🙂
It's pretty basic apartments, and the building is old, but it's the cheapest you'll find in South Pasadena, because it's right next to Pasadena. It has a pool. I know 5 years ago, 2 bedroom was 650 bucks there or something like that. But it's prolly more like 900-1000 now.
Not sure if they got studios there.

South Pas has become hip central. (Also HOTTIE CENTRAL) Hell, if you can find a nice 2 bedroom, we can roommate. ha. As long as you don't mind lots of girls around the place.🙂 er...with that handle tho, maybe you're female. sorry.

Have you tried that search engine...crap, can't remember it now, where you can punch in your "money haves" along with your "apt wants" and get a match?

try glendale, burbank, montrose, la canada there should be plenty in your range.

Also try Altadena, Santa Anita if you go a little that way.

for that range you want I know you can find some in glendale.. not a problem..

Well, 2 Bedroom are not necessary that expensive...probably just $200 more than a 1 bedroom. I found a two bedroom apt in Pasadena runs for $1170...also, my mom found a 2 bedroom apt up north of Michilinda Ave for $1000.....
lots of girls? I hope you don't mind that either 🙂

Looks like I need to give Amberwood apts a look then. I hate some apt look old and not have been taken care of. I found one studio for $660 in Pasadena today.....the location is excellent but the building is quite old....I don't know if I really want that studio or not. I was hoping to find a newer apt..

Well, let me tell ya. Amberwood is old building. I just hope they got rid of that orange brown carpet that they had there when my bro lived there. But if you want South Pas, that's the cheapest you can get there for sure. S. Pas is an expensive place. It's close to San Marino, which is waay expensive, like Beverly Hills.
If you don't have kids and have a car, you don't necessarily need to be in south pasadena, cus you don't care about school system. Another place that is descent and more affordable are the hills next to Calstate LA. I think it's called Monterey park, and they got some newer buildings there. Just make sure you are up there on the hill, because it's east LA all around.

Monterey Park......AARRRRRRHHHHH.....I don't really like that area. I am twnese, but I don't like to see so many asians everyday. I don't know..it's just my personal feeling..MP seems to me to be a pretty busy area and that's not what I want.

<< Good, Cheap, AND in LA? You can get two...but not three 🙂

Well, I am working in Silicon Valley now, and I am paying $900 for a run down studio. So it's not good, not cheap, and not in LA 🙁
But in the words of the Soviet rocket launcher in "Red Alert"...
"At least I have job" 🙂

Anyone has the membership in EZrentlist.com or apartments.com ??
It seems to me all the rental site start charging fees now....

<< I just got a place near Santa Monica, 1 bd-rm for $735/month. Not bad... very spacious. 🙂 >>
