Thanks for the input. I was trying to get some input out of the person that I wanted to buy it for, but it doesn't seem like she's spent much time finding out what's best for it. She basically just said some chairs are better than others. But she wasn't sure if good lumbar support helps or what. I get the impression that it's just very uncomfortable "condition" (if that's the right word for it), and what works to ease the pain one minute might not work the next.
Scotteq - I know there are a handful of stretches/exercises that a doctor recommended she do every morning, but she doesn't do them often enough (I think because it only acts up a couple of times a year, so she becomes complacent).
