check out nero

Nero

It will let you just make a data cd or convert the mp3s into audio tracks on the fly. :)

Don't spend money, go get CDex (here). Best freeware ripper out there, at least in my opinion.

Ok , I installed both EAC and the LAME encoder , both are working fine but I have a question .

Copying a CD track into MP3 form ........... When choosing the bitrate under "Compression Options" it seems that no matter where I set it , it looks to be the same in Winamp . If set at 128 , 160 , 192kbps whatever & copy a track & then play it on Winamp , the bitrate constantly varies switching from 320-192-256 etc. Is this just Winamp or am I doing something wrong ? I've noticed the compression is of a diff. size but the bitrate varying in Winamp is what's bothering me .

I have external compression set as "User Defined Encoder"
And the additional command line options :%l--alt-preset 128%l%h--alt-preset standard%h %s %d

PS ....... I've read why it does this varying to lower compression size but still wondering if I'm doing something wrong .

I probably have an older version of CDEX, but I set the bitrate under the Encoder tab in the settings. It's a drop down box right in the middle of the window.

MP3s I encode into 192kbs show up as being that bitrate in Winamp for me, so you might want to check where you have it set.

Well in EAC you can set it as either , a set kbps or variable kbps but having it at a set kbps such as 256 like I do , it still comes out variable in Winamp . I don't know why .

EDIT : I figured it out , thanks :)
Just read all about the "additional command line paramaters"
