Good case

What in your opinion, is a good case (or case company), as far as room, airflow, and looks? I am looking for no more than 4 bays, a lot of places for fans, and a good black or silver finish, even with possible neon lighting. without PSU please

Check the Coolermaster Stacker. You didn't list a budget so I assume you can afford anything, the CM Stacker definately fits your needs. No lights though, but those are easily acquired.

Read his Title 🙂

For under 50 bucks get Cooler Master Cavalier/Centurion 5, or RaidMax X1, or Antec SLK3000

Yeah he changed it though. It's not fair.

What about this? It doesn't have to be under 50, just under 100

KINGWIN SK-523SW Silver Aluminum front bezel, SECC chassis ATX Mid Tower

Antec SLK3000, Coolermaster, and Lian Li are all very nice

Kingwin is also nice.

I don't know anything about RaidMax

I have one of each, Kingwin 424, with slide-out MB tray. Beautiful piece of hardware, it's light, aluminum, quiet, and not so expensive at all; and Centurion 5, all toolless, well ventilated, reasonably spacious, and on sale at lots of places about $30 off its recent $79.95 MSRP (no PSU in that price).

It (Centurion) has the stealthed optical drive doors on two bays, so you don't have to worry about color match, and two 120 mm fans, which seems to be the be-all, end-all for cooling. I like it for a machine that you swap drives in and out of (for partitioning, setting them up new with ghosted images, etc.)

The Raidmax X1 got Gold in AT's 3 way case comparo, beating out the Antec P150, but they downgraded it to silver award (still beating P150) b/c USB is hard to access with door closed

Good choices (Narrowed Down):

Under $50, more classic look
Cooler Master Cavalier

Under $50, slightly more "gamer" look
Raidmax X-1

Around $100, very nice case
Antec P180

Under $100, classic looking case w/o door
Cooler Master Preatorian

Pick one of these, or if you don't like any of these, look at the Lian-Li cases

He's talking about the CoolerMaster. The Kingwin 424 series looks like a LianLi.

You didn't mention whether you wanted a window.

I think the Kingwin 523 is nice looking for a blingy case.

The Antec 3000-B is a lot of case for under $50. but has no bling - door is a bit flimsy.

If you want just a great case at an amazing price, check the Beantech IGLOO1 at directron.com. Same as the Kingwin 424 and are easily as well-made as Lian Li. They have only the silver ones left. I think that model case may be discontinued as it is no longer to be found on the KW web site. And it is hard to find any under either brand in the channel.

If you want something that you won't see every day, check out the JustPC cases. I keep thinking I want a Gazelle every time I see them. I just have to keep thinking: Happy with what I have - happy with what I have - etc... 😉

Yeah, replace the fans in the Raidmax X1with 2*80mm AC Pro2 TL or TC and the 120mm with a Coolermaster or Scythe SFlex for a nice and quiet system

The Kingwin is a very nice case for the price. Cheapest good quality aluminum you can get, and the cooling is adequate. Almost considered getting it until my budget unexpectedly skyrocketed.

I've looked at the KingWin 424 several times. It has nice touches that the Lian Li midis lack. Like grommet mounts for the HDDs. The fit and finish is just as nice as L-L.
The only thing I would have to do to it, would be to mod paired 92s for front intake duty in place of the stock 80s. Nice slow speed 92s. Other than that it's a perfect small case.

Under $50:
Athenatech A747 - essentially toolless case. Integrated drive rails (you don't even have to screw railsto your drives. Just slide them into the pre-rail-equipped bays and lock them with the lever). Very cool. Awesome for the price. Includes a pretty good 300W supply (unlike the bad supplies include3d with Raidmax and Aspire cases)

Under $100:
Chieftec Dragon - lots of places for fans, removable HDD cages, standard drive rails, wire management, etc. Does not include PSU though.
